Peace and Relaxation

From the first moment we arrived, we felt like we were home, Octavia and Hermann were warm and inviting. I even tried out my German vocabulary. The apt was beautiful with everything you would need. The morning was the Best, Octavia Breakfast was delicious ! We enjoyed the bike path in the early morning light and the setting sun. I give the Birnbaumhof-Hotel Pension 5 stars!!

Perfect Apartment for this area

Everything was as described in the description of this apartment. Host was extremely pleasant and gave us some helpful suggestions about the area. She even offered cooked eggs for breakfast. We decided to pay the extra to include breakfast. Good selection for breakfast choices. I partially enjoyed her family herbal tea. Apartment was well equipped and very comfortable. Host even had the heat on as she knew Americans liked it warm. Would definitely stay here again if we return to this area of Germany. Be aware that the apartment is located on the 2nd floor and requires you to climb a flight of stairs. Not a problem, I just missed this detail in the description.

Schwedelbach/Ramstein 5 Star

My wife and I have been to this B&B twice (2012, 2014) while visiting family at Ramstein AFB. We also traveled elsewhere around Europe when we were there and this is by far the best place we found. It is clean, spacious, comfortable, affordable and Octavia and Hermann are wonderful hosts. In our experience they became friends rather than just landlords during our two visits, which totaled about 5 weeks. Don't know when/if we'll ever get back to Schwedelbach but if we do this is where we'll stay. I highly recommend this B&B to you. Richard & Marsha

Birnbaumhof - FeWo Blütenzauber

Wir haben eine Woche auf dem Birnbaumhof verbracht und uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung "Blütenzauber" entsprach unseren Vorstellungen. Alles war sauber und in einem gepflegten Zustand. Ein Bettchen für unseren Monate alten Sohn wurde uns kostenfrei zur Verfügung gestellt. Empfang und Verabschiedung waren herzlich. Radfahrer werden sich über die vielen Möglichkeiten für schöne Touren in der Umgebung freuen.

Birnbaumhof

Birnbaumhof is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms and apartments are beautiful and they are kept immaculate. Everyone is so warm and friendly. They make you part of the family. The owners, Octavia and Hermann, go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They will do anything for you and they can give you information on places to go and see. They are very knowledgeable on the entire area. The breakfast at Birnbaumhof is just wonderful. Everything is so delicious. Octavia has a special that she makes for her guests when requested. The scenery outback is just beautiful also. We strongly recommend Birnbaumhof to anyone traveling in the area. We liked it so much, we stayed for two weeks. One just can not say enough about Octavia and Hermann. They are wonderful people, and we hope to maintain their friendship. Their staff are just wonderful people also. They are so friendly, and will go out of their way to please the customer. When visiting Germany and staying in the Kaiserslautern area we would not think of staying at any other place but Birnbaumhof. We just loved it. It was a wonderful experience. Dan & Susie Smith

Zum rundum Wohlfühlen

Wir haben 1 Woche im Birnbaumhof verbracht und uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Ferienwohnung 2 entsprach genau der Beschreibung, war sehr gepflegt und gemühtlich, bestens ausgestattet, falls man sich selbst versorgen will. Das reichhaltige Frühstück mit Extras nach eigenen Vorlieben lässt man sich gerne schmecken und bei einem Plausch mit dem netten Hauswirts-Ehepaar oder der Tageszeitung sitzt man auch mal länger. In der Umgebung gibt es viel zu entdecken, Burg Lichtenberg, Wasserburg, Tierpark, Kaiserslautern, Idar-Oberstein und auch Meissenheim ist wegen seines mittelalterlichen Stadtkerns sehr zu empfehlen. Die Gastronimie hat von allem etwas zu bieten, besonders gefallen hat uns in Weilerbach die Schlemmer-Scheune und etwas außerhalb Bernds Blockhaus. Wir werden den Birnbaumhof gerne weiter empfehlen. A month in country comfort

If your idea of a relaxing vacation is a beautiful fully-furnished apartment located in a countryside of rolling green hills and waving fields of wheat and corn, then the Birnbaumhof in Schwedelbach, Germany is the place for you. My wife and I spent a wonderful month at Birnbaumhof and cannot say enough about our experience in this very home-like atmosphere. Octavia and Hermann Fetzer-Knaps, the owners, treat you like family. Our apartment was superb! It overlooked a large field where children could run and play...bordered by a forest with hills in the distance. You can start your day with a typical German farmer's breakfast of cheese, meats, breads, yogurts, cereals, eggs, juices, coffee and tea and "specials" that Octavia might have on hand for the day. You might not have to eat again until evening! Outstanding! The layout of the Birnbaumhof surrounds a lovely courtyard with a pear tree in the center. The courtyard is the perfect place to end each day with friends...playing cards...watching the children play...or just sitting in the sunset with a cool drink in hand. Birnbaumhof is example of a place where you get more than your money's-worth of comfort, service, and atmosphere. The housekeeping staff is excellent. Two times a week (or more) they'll keep your room or apartment sparkling and clean. What about groceries? Schwedelbach is just minutes from nearby towns where you will find grand markets and restaurants featuring all cusines...at very reasonable prices. And you will also find large swimming pools with water slides and everything you or your children would need for a great day of fun in the sun. But, if you don't want to leave town...there are a couple very nice Gasthaus restaurants within walking distance of Birnbaumhof. If German is not your first language, you will find that Octavia speaks English quite well. However, be cautioned that if Octavia finds you can speak some German she will encourage you to use it...correcting your mistakes in a friendly, positive manner. My German speaking ability increased greatly during a month of speaking with Octavia. She's a great teacher. Other positives about Birnbaumhof? Parking. WiFi-wireless in your room/apartment. Satellite television. Radio. DVDs. Fully-equipped kitchens. Breakfast. They even have a washer and dryer for your use...instructions in English..and more. We will stay at Birnbaumhof again.

Bei diesen Vermietern kann man sich nur wohl fühlen. Immer ein Lachen , nette Worte, gutgemeinte Tipps und ein reichhaltiges Frühstück mit Oma`s selbstgemachter Marmelade und deftigem frischem Rührei. Die Ferienwohnung ist sehr gepflegt. Es mangelte an nichts. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Nur zu empfehlen.

Sehr schöne Wohnung in charmantem Ambiente

Die Wohnung ist sehr liebevoll und doch funktional (und weitestgehend kindersicher!!!) eingerichtet, so daß wir eine tolle ruhige Woche hier verbracht haben. Die Familie ist sehr nett und gastfreundlich, so daß es uns an nichts gefehlt hat. Die Umgebung gibt viele Möglichkeiten zum Wandern und Radeln; auch die Nähe zu Kaiserslautern ist ein guter Aspekt. Einziger Haken (oder ein weiteres PLUS, wie man's sieht): man hat zumindest mit E-Plus und D1 kein Handy Empfang. Fazit: wir kommen sicher wieder. Vielen Dank an die Familie.

Schöne Westpfalz

I und W aus Bargstedt Niedersachsen) Wir können uns nur den Bewertungen anschließen. Waren zu einen leider nicht sehr freudigen Familienbesuch im Nachbarort und haben uns entschlossen eine FW zu nehmen da unsere Anwesenheit zu anstrengend gewesen wäre. Waren angenehm überrascht. Es war eine sehr herzliche und familiäre Atmospäre. Die FW war lieb eingerichtet und mit allem ausgestattet. Hatten Frühstück dazu gebucht und können das bestätigen was Schorle ausgesprochen hat. Hoffen mal bald wieder zu kommen und dann die Gegend zu erwandern.

(Fast) wie zuhause

Ich kann mich den vorherigen Bewertungen nur anschließen: Ich hatte für knapp 2 Wochen eine Ferienwohnung gemietet, diese war gepflegt, ordentlich ausgestattet mit Allem was man im Urlaub benötigt. Ich konnte mich mal so richtig erholen. Das Frühstück (können Ferienwohnungsgäste dazubuchen!) war wirklich sehr empfehlenswert, reichhaltig, viele Sachen hausgemacht (Tee und Marmelade), man wird sehr leicht gemästet, wenn man nicht aufpaßt und zuhause passen die Sachen nicht mehr...... Ich habe mich rundherum sehr wohlgefühlt, man wird sehr familiär und nett aufgenommen und kann es sich wirklich gut gehen lassen. Ich hoffe, ich kann es einrichten, daß ich irgendwann mal wiederkomme.

Home away from home!

A delight! Spacious accomodations are available either in a room or an apartment. We were treated like family and appreciated the tasty, hearty breakfasts. Made-to-order eggs were an option each day. Our apartment was airy, clean, so comfortable and included all amenities such as cooking utensils, towels, bath products, refrigerator, microwave and even a dishwasher had we chosen to prepare our own meals. But, we opted to explore the many wonderful restaurants nearby. The Rheinland-Pfalz is known for great food, good wine and friendly people and the Birnbaumhof just underscores that reputation. We have stayed here before and will indeed be back whenever we are lucky enough to get a reservation. We highly recommend!!

Wonderful Stay at Birnbaumhof

My family rented 2 apartments at Birnbaumhof during the 2009 Christmas holiday so we could spend time with our daughter-in-law who was stationed at Ramstein AFB. The apartments were perfect - clean, modern, cozy and spacious. The kitchens were equipped with everything you would need to prepare meals if necessary. Out hosts, Octavia and family, could not have been more welcoming and accomodating. Octavia prepares a wonderful breakfast each morning and the dining room is very quaint. Octavia was so sweet and gave us some Christmas gifts and some of her mother's home baked cookies. We were only about 10 minutes from the base...a very easy drive. The town of Schwedelbach is very nice with several restaurants (we tried 3 and all were wonderful and owners spoke some English). There is a bakery and bank with ATM also in the town. A walking/bike path is right across the street from the Birnbaumhof and you could got for miles if desired. I would highly recommend this place and would love to come back in the summer some time.
