This little slice of heaven is our family's favorite getaway! We love being able to wake up in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee and beautiful sunrise stroll down the beach while hunting for sea glass and treasures. Kids enjoy playing in the sand, and the shallow water is perfect for a relaxing afternoon float! The home is cozy and clean and has everything you need for a comfortable and stress-free stay!
The cottage was awesome; the beach was awesome; the equipment (kayaks, life jackets, floats) was perfect; communication with host was easy, she was super responsive. Loved it so much I booked again for the fall!
Wonderful spot right on the water with spectacular sunrises. Very casual and relaxing, peaceful and quiet. The beach was just perfect for the kids with kayaking, fishing, sea glass collecting , sandcastle building, crabbing , birds watching. We will definitely be going back.
Perfect little getaway! Missy is wonderful to work with and the property was perfect for making memories over a holiday weekend with my family! Thanksgiving dinner, movies, games and cold plunges will be something we will always remember. Missy we would love to return!!!!
Overall, this is a great place to stay. It has a beautiful beach and the home is cozy. We had a couple issues, including drain flies, which were alloverour food and in the fridge; the black top does not look like it's been cleaned in a while, and 2 of the air conditioner s would not work the last evening/day.
A house 6 feet from the water, does it get better? Plus a screened in porch, you can sit and listen to the sounds of the Chesapeake bug free. I hope this beach stays as it is for a long, long time
This is a perfect little beach house with great access to the beach and beautiful panoramic views of the Bay. I don't think you could find a home any closer to the water than this, which was great with young children and elderly. Missy is a fantastic host as well and has been very thoughtful of her guests to make sure that their stay is comfortable. I highly recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for a quiet magical escape from their everyday:)
Our family had the most amazing time at the cottage. We used the deck, screened in porch and only went inside to eat and go to bed. The cottage was very nice and was stocked, if you forgot something. We spent our days swimming, walking the beach, fishing and sitting on the porch listing to the sounds of the bay.
The Bay Retreat is simply the best!
A paradise all in its own, our family cherishes the time we have spent on the bay. Such an amazing vacation experience.
The beach is beautiful, crabbing is plentiful, catch the sunrise you wonβt be sorry.
Missy has everything you need and is so helpful and kind.
The Bay Retreat is quaint, beautifully appointed with the beach vibe.
No better place on earth.
Canβt wait to returnβ€οΈ
This property is even better than what you see in the pictures. House was perfect for us and our two toddlers. Great place to unwind. My only issue was the bugs but heyβ¦ Mother Nature. Our kids preferred this than our house in ocean city. Weβre looking forward to return late summer/early fall. The host (Missy) was awesome. Helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Thanks again!!!!
So much to do and see here in the beauty of the bay!! Saw multiple herons, skinks, terns, fish and other wildlife. Kayaking was very fun and we did it almost every day. Floating and swimming in the bay was equally fun! Take a night walk to see the toads on the beach. Bring a flashlight! This house has everything you'll need and is so close to the water! We all loved and and were sad to leave!
Missy was very nice and excellent with communication she replies quickly. My family had enjoyed our stay to this very nice property our kids had so much fun. There's kayak and other stuff that you can enjoy. The place says it has 3 bedroom but theres really only two but it has pullout beds couches that can be used out in the living room so it all worked out well for us. We will definitely come back next year! :)
Took my 82-year old mother to this lovely cottage . . . directly on the beach of the Chesapeake. The cottage was perfectly appointed - quaint and cozy and very peachy! You couldn't ask for a more private and relaxing beach area. Rare to be able to watch the sunrise right from the porch and walk straight out onto the beach without dragging coolers and things for blocks!
The owner/manager was so kind and accommodating. We had a wonderful time there and can't wait to rebook for next year! You won't find anything like this for this price on any beach in Maryland. It was truly delightful!!!
We absolutely love Hays beach! This was our first stay at this cottage, but our 3rd year at Hays beach. Its a gorgeous beach, with lots to offer the family. We personally enjoy spending time crabbing in the creek where the crabs are abundant and easy to catch. When we aren't crabbing, the kids love searching the beach for sea glass, and floating/swimming in the bay.
We loved the screened in porch/ outside porch to sit on and watch the kids while they spent the entire day playing on the beach. There's nothing like staying beachfront, and hearing the sound of the bay. The house is well supplied and had mostly what we needed, however I some how missed in the listing that the house lacked a dish washer, which for a family of 6, can be a pain.
We were a bit disappointed when we got our check in instructions and discovered that while bedding was provided, we would have to make the beds upon arrival. And even more disappointed that there is no trash service provided, so we had to make a few trips to the transfer station so that critters didn't get into the trash.
We had an amazing time, and look forward to returning to Hays beach next year.
My twin sister and I rented Missyβs property for two weeks, with the middle weekend being our 80th birthday. When we first arrived at the well-hidden cottage, we though we were in paradise found! The adorable house is literally right on Hays Beach. There is no grass β¦ just sand between your toes. The cottage itself is full of charm. The screened-in porch is a fabulous place to gaze out at the unobstructed expansive view of the bay. When youβre inside, you feel as if youβre on a houseboat, because you canβt see the beach β¦ only water. Missy makes you feel as though she is welcoming family into her home. I canβt remember a home owner ever being so accessible, friendly and responsive to a renter. My sister and I had an absolutely magical birthday, made more so by my husband and Carolβs and my six adult βkidsβ flying in from literally all over the country: from California, Seattle, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts β¦ to help us celebrate our big day. (We rented the house next-door to house all the extra people.) I have nothing but superlatives to say about Missy and her Bay Side Retreat. If you need to get away from it all and relax, breathe, and thoroughly enjoy a waterfront sabbatical, look no further. This is it!
