Summary:
Meadow views and coastal forest surround this hillside Sea Ranch home, with a private hot tub, natural beam ceilings, and built-in window seats that make the living room feel immediate. Three bedrooms sleep 6; dogs welcome (up to 2). Shell Beach tidepools are two minutes by car; Gualala's markets sit five miles north.
The Space:
Bobcats pass through the meadow below this hillside Sea Ranch home, where natural beam ceilings, built-in window seats, and a pair of recliners face the forest quiet — and a private hot tub waits on the deck after Shell Beach tidepooling or Ohlson Recreation Center swims two miles south.
You'll find this cozy, two-level home on the hillside east of California Highway 1, offering meadow views five miles south of downtown Gualala. Go tidepooling and watch the local harbor seals at Shell Beach one mile west, take walks on the sandy expanse of Walk On Beach less than two miles west, and spend sunny days enjoying the heated pool, saunas, and tennis courts at the Ohlson Recreation Center two miles south.
With natural beam ceilings, built-in window seats, and a pair of plush recliners, the living space will make you feel immediately at home.
Begin each morning with sticky buns from Twofish Baking seven miles south, and spend each afternoon preparing al fresco meals on the charcoal grill.
Whether you've come to Sea Ranch to relax, unwind, or reconnect with your family, you'll be able to do it all in this home!
SHELL BEACH AND TWOFISH
Shell Beach tidepools sit one mile west and Walk On Beach less than two miles out; Twofish Baking at the Stewarts Point Store is seven miles south for morning sticky buns. The charcoal grill handles al fresco dinners after Ohlson pool afternoons.

Getting Around:

Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, about 1.5 hours east. A car is essential for exploring the area. The scenic drive along Highway 1 is part of the experience.
Other Things to Note:
Use the provided logs to build a morning fire in the wood stove, curl up by the window to glimpse bobcats passing through the meadow, or set up a board game as a Netflix favorite plays in the background (a DVD player, VCR, VHS library, and free WiFi are also provided). Take your dogs for walks on the private local trails (Good to know: there is a two-dog maximum at this home), stretch out with a good book on the deck, and spend evenings stargazing with your loved ones in the warmth of the private hot tub.
Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.
Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.
Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday.

Yes, everything was super easy. Kitchen had everything we needed, hot tub was fabulous with beautiful starry skies. We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, spacious rooms, and beautiful views
We spent four nights in this great home. It's in a nice location on a very quiet cul-de-sac. Close to day hiking trails and Gualala for restaurants. Home was very well equiped - we cooked several meals without finding any missing household items. Hot tub works great...which is sometimes a rarity in rental homes. We would definitely stay here again.
Good location. Private. Hot water weak, not enough to fill bathtub

Private beautiful home in the trees
Very nice welcoming home surrounded by trees which makes it very private. Hot tub is delightful, especially during the full moon. It's a close drive to both the amazing Sea Ranch Chapel, as well as to Shell Beach, where the seals and their pups are this time of year. Delightful place to spend a few days! A very welcoming home that lends itself to relaxation and decompressing!

Nice home, great for family and pets
We enjoyed this home tremendously with our families and pup. However, I will say that the beds were hard to our taste, and the pillows seemed old/flat. That was a bummer. Other than that, a great place to stay.
There were three of us - myself, my granddaughter and her partner, along with my little Havanese pup. The house is spacious - we didn't even use the upstairs at all. The kitchen was stocked with necessities like salt/pepper/sugar, various herbs. We enjoyed the hot tub every day and loved seeing a doe and her fawn walk by in the evenings. We watched many birds in the tall trees and felt renewed after our two-night stay. We would definitely rent the house again.
This home is super quiet and serene. The woods surrounding the home are pristine with turkeys, deer, and all assortment of birds enjoying the area. House was just as advertised and clean. The layout of the home is also very nice, easy to move around and still see your guests. Nice spot and I would return next time we stay at SR.
Great place for our family to relax and connect. Extra points for the hot tub and allowing dogs.
Would have like to have known ahead of time that coffee filters were not provided and to bring our own firewood. There really was not enough for three nights during the winter.
The place is very nice, has multiple nice living areas and places to hang out.
Downstairs has two queen bedrooms one with an en suite bathroom. The upstairs bedroom has a pair of twin beds and just outside the upstairs bedroom a loft area with a large couch.
The upstairs area is better suited to kids. The beds upstairs are uncomfortable and we ended up sleeping on the couch. They are older mattresses on a flat wood platform. I would recommend changing out the mattresses and adding a box spring.
Overall the place is very nice and comfortable to hangout and stay.
The house is very comfortable and well set up. No ocean view, but a nice small private meadow right behind the house. You do have to drive to get to the beach and bluff trail. The main drawback for us was that the hot tub was right outside our bedroom window and seems to run some sort of long cycle during the night-- an hour the first night, 3 hours one of the other nights, at 55 decibels. It's impossible to sleep while that is happening. In hindsight, we should have moved to one of the other bedrooms after that first night. I would recommend that anyone staying there not use the bedroom next to the hot tub deck.

Bobcat House
We really enjoyed our stay at the bobcat house and it is so nice to be able to bring a dog. The Bluff trail all along Sea Ranch on the other side of Highway one is just so beautiful. The beaches along the way are so much fun to explore. We cooked all of our meals at the house, and the kitchen is pretty well equipped. Also enjoyed the nice fires in the woodstove. Plus is there was plenty of wood. We just needed to bring some kindling. The hot tub is older, but large and we really enjoyed hanging out in the evenings under the bright stars after a days adventures. The only reason I rated this property as a four is because it is an older home and the twin beds upstairs are pretty firm. The furniture is older, too, but no need for replacement in my opinion.
If you’re looking for an upscale place with expensive art and decor, then this is not the place. If you’re looking for a place that you can comfortably stay and enjoy with family, friends and a dog, then this place is great!
The location worked really well for us - really close to hiking trails in the hills, easy to walk or drive to the beach. It's pretty quiet with some traffic noise from HW1, but it wasn't bad. The house itself is comfortable and spacious, and the kitchen is in a very nice shape. As it is common in Sea Ranch properties, the pots and pans are all non-stick and scratched - I wish people were more careful, but we expect that and bring our own. We have dietary restrictions, so we have to cook ourselves - everything in the kitchen worked well. WIFI was fast and reliable. We did not try the wood stove, it was ready to go.
We used the hot tub a lot. It was clean, and spacious, and we enjoyed the view of the trees, and the stars at night. The deck with the hot tub is visible from the road, so there is limited privacy, though there is almost no traffic on the road as the house is in a cul-de-sac. The hot tub is located on a deck immediately next to the main bedroom. We could not sleep there because at night the hot-tub was turning on and creating a lot of noise. In fact, the noise from the hot tub was also there during the day - taking one star off because of the noise.
There were two other bedrooms, so we were able to sleep regardless of the hot tub noise.
The house got hot during the day, even with the windows and doors open.
For the stereo, we ordered USB-C to RCA adapter and it worked well. The TV was large and worked well.
Host communication was perfect and consistent, responded quick if we needed anything. The house was very clean and there were plenty of extra blankets, towels, toilet paper. Everything was as expected, such a beautiful home away from home. A bit far from the beach (expect a 20-30 min walk) but beautiful place. Check in was smooth and quick. Definitely would stay again.
