Grab a newspaper at the Surf Market in town each morning, and relax as the morning fog retreats.

Move into the full kitchen to grind some fresh coffee beans, heat up the waffle iron, and get a head start on a delicious homemade breakfast. This well-equipped space has a center island, two sinks, and appliances that include a stainless steel refrigerator, double ovens, and a dishwasher. Sit down to eat at the dining table for six, and open the surrounding glass doors to let in the crisp ocean breeze. This wrap-around space offers lounge seating and views of the ocean below, as well as a gas grill and a small table for casual lunchtime barbecues and al fresco dinners.

Grab your bathing suits from the private washer/dryer and spend an afternoon or two swimming and playing tennis at the Del Mar Recreation Center. Beautiful view! Close walk to the bluff. The house itself could use some updating. The fireplace was not available for use (out of order), and the sliding doors were difficult to open. One cupboard next to the oven had a ton of sawdust inside and on the pots and pans. So the cleaning crew could have done a bit better. The other issue for which we did reach out to the management about was the lack of lighting, particularly in the bedrooms. They were very, very dark. Unfortunately they could not provide additional lamps. (The bathroom lighting was good, but that was the only room that I could really see well in at night.) We did have to kill a few ants and other bugs but that is normal when one rents a house on the bluff or in the woods. The issues I mentioned are the reason we give it 4 stars. Overall, the location and view was great, and I think the price reasonable.

Whale Tale was a good house close to the golf course and hiking trails. The kitchen was well appointed and met our needs. The check in process was very easy and the rental company was excellent about sending texts with pertinent information.

The living and dining rooms are very enjoyable with beautiful ocean view. There are a lot of movies, books and puzzles available. The rooms are very clean. The host is super responsive and very helpful. The starry sky is unbeatable on clear nights. The pool at the Del Mar Recreation Center is very nice with ocean view. Our stay was very pleasant. I would suggest making the lights in the living room brighter. It would be better if the wifi signal was stronger and more reliable. But overall this is a very nice home to stay for a family vacation.
