47 Creekside Retreat House
This adorable cottage has two bedrooms and sits at the end of the road in the heart of Sedona on historic Newcastle Island along the banks of Oak Creek. Enjoy the warmth and ambiance of a cozy electric fireplace, adding a touch of comfort to your stay.
Our property is secluded yet close to everything in Sedona. The 2-bedroom cottage plus a queen-sized sofa bed in the living room sleeps 6 and is a cute forest hideaway both rustic and cozy. Think reclusive vacation cabin, surrounded by Oak Creek`s sound in a canyon forest. If using our shared community Creekside Terrace at our property next door, you can sit and relax creek side while listening to the gentle waters and taking in a great book or a calming nap. There is even a hammock hanging creek side. In addition to your private hot tub at the cottage, we have 3 community hot tubs all available right next to Oak Creek. After a day of hiking, you can enjoy the stars and dark skies of Sedona while soaking in a hot tub creek side. We also have a community outdoor covered dining area with a gas grill for guests to enjoy.
For nature lovers, it sits in a bird and wildlife migration sanctuary within walking distance to neighborhood hiking trails. Once on Newcastle Island, it is easy to enjoy the magic of not needing a car for days, enjoying and exploring nature.
Guests also have private creek access via a stairwell marked `47 use only” and is between cabin home #75 and #85. In addition, we also have a private trail right here at the end of the property! If you walk parallel to the creek...past the very last cabin, cabin #95, you will enter the other half of our property. The trail will lead you to easier creek access, chairs, and a hammock. For those who must stay plugged in, wi-fi is good and a large flat screen HD TV is ready for your streaming.
Guests have exclusive use of our entire family vacation cottage, the private yard and hot tub, as well as access to the shared Creekside Terrace, grounds and amenities next door. Enjoy the warmth and ambiance of a cozy electric fireplace, adding a touch of comfort to your stay. Please do not use other private home stairs and please be quiet while walking past neighbor cottages. Please leash all dogs when outside the cottage backyard.
Please be aware that we are not allowed by FEMA to have any fences or physical barriers to the creek, so the creek side amenities are not suitable for young children.
Age and location issues to be aware of: (1) Note this cottage is in flood plain; sacred wild ground. If there is heavy rain to the north, once or twice a year there may be high water levels which makes the wash behind the cabin flow (normally it is empty). There is a bridge for vehicular traffic for ingress and egress to the cabin in the event the wash is flowing. Water usually recedes within 12 hours each time but cannot be guaranteed. (2) Limited parking - only 2 regular sized SUV vehicles parallel parked fit without blocking shared driveway. Smaller pickups fit ok too, but not RVs or large trucks. There is no additional guest parking on Newcastle Island. (3) The cottage roof is thin, so you can hear animals scampering across it, rain drizzling on it, and even tree branches falling onto the roof. Nevertheless the cottage and location are magical, and once settled and relaxed, you should find your stay in the creek forest near the mouth of Oak Creek Canyon peaceful and regenerative. (4) Guests must sign a rental agreement prior to staying.

We stayed in one of the houses, that has its own courtyard and private hot tub. We went on hikes all day, came back and enjoyed the hot tub and laid in the hammock to view the beautiful stars and enjoy the evening. The home was comfortable & clean. It is also close to everything, and at the same time feels tucked away. We hope to visit again one day.
This place was better than it ahows in the pictures. Super clean inside and out. Had a great night sleep and a fun place to stay with family in a great location. Check in was easy. Hope to come back again.
Great location, close to everything. It was quiet and private with great outdoor spaces. The unit is old, low ceilings, not exceptionally clean and you could roll a ball from one end to the other on the sloping floor. Not a luxurious property, merely adequate.
We had a great experience! I would describe the property as a luxurious cabin or bungalow. Very comfortable beds and furniture. The private hot tub for this specific property was outstanding! Great location. Nice and private and quiet in a very busy town. When we noticed a leak under the kitchen sink, the management sent out a repair person immediately. We would definitely book this property again!
The property was rustic, eclectic and cute. For being a two bedroom, I was spacious! The property has an entire backyard with different seating areas. Beds were comfortable and the heater worked well. It’s right in the center of town but you wouldn’t know. It feels like you’re out in the woods. My only complaint was the hot tub. First, I didn’t realize we would have our own private hot tub. It didn’t get hot the first night, just lukewarm. We communicated with the property manager and it was nice at hot the next night. So, we did lose out on one night with the hot tub, but the property was quick to address the issue. I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed 2 nights celebrating a birthday. Best features were hot tub, hammock, and walk along the creek (though it was way too short and only allowed access one way).
1k% recommend! This stay was extremely relaxing for my family and I. It was a little hard to find at night so make sure you check in before sundown. My mornings in the hammock and in the jacuzzi with my coffee were great! The nature noises were like music and no one bothers you! Close to everything!!
Perfect place to stay in Sedona for me, my sister and pups. No hotel hustle/bustle. Calm and quiet area to enjoy the sounds of surrounding nature. And so close to everything we wanted to do. Easy booking, parking, check in and out.
Surprised my 90 yr old mum for Thanksgiving.Staying at this cute cottage was so relaxing.Place had everything about need to make dinner.Beds were comfy and altit was chilly outside we were able to be warm and cozy inside. Will be back in the future and Definitely recommend.Thank You muchness for the Welcome!
Kinda scary to find at night (it looks like you are going to drive into a ditch) but cute property! Creek was close and the metal roof with the roof was an experience.
We came into the property very late and it was a struggle to find it in the dark but we eventually did. We were somewhat disappointed it wasn't right by the creek like we had thought it was. Overall though it was a decent location. Close to downtown and quiet. It did have a good outdoor space and we loved the hot tub!
The location was central but out of the way and quiet. The beds and couch and chair were comfortable. The outdoor cooking w fire pit was fun but was mistaken for us smoking (cigarettes?) in the house. Hot tub had to be serviced 2 days and still didn't work well afterwards. Patio under tree tops was messy with branches. Overall it was a good stay but feel a duty to report positives and negatives.
We went up for the Festival of Lights. Property was so close it took us minutes to get there. We had a great stay, lovely property and the outdoor space was wonderful. Thank you for sharing your home.
Beautiful location. Outdoor space was a lot of fun. Overall great stay!

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in
House was good, property management left bad taste
The house itself is cute and clean, but I was frustrated by the expectations of the property management company. Check in is at 4pm (in November, the sun is practically going down by 4pm) and an early check in will cost you extra money. Check out is 10am and it is expected that you strip the sheets, start laundry, take the trash out, etc with the fear of incurring more fees. Why am I paying a cleaning fee if I’m expected to do half of the work? Always a respectful renter, but all of the expectations held at this place, at this price, left me with a bad taste for this spot.
