This house was the perfect spot for an Iceland trip. It is well-positioned in the Golden Circle but only about 15 minutes away from Selfoss and Hveragerði. There are beautiful views from the house. The sauna and hot tub (pool) were a bonus.

Perfect!

This truly is a “luxury modern home.” It has all the amenities in a clean, comfortable, stylish home set on a hillside with beautiful views.This house is the place to stay! The hosts are incredible! We had a complication due to a flight cancellation and they were so accommodating. They were kind, understanding, and quick to respond and help us find a solution. They saved us from being homelessness for a night! Really grateful!

Lovely home, with great location

We stayed here for several days. The house was exactly as described. Lots of kitchen items and a wonderful coffee, so pick up some beans on your shopping trip. There was a slight issue with the water when we checked in however the host had provided his number to call. He was immediately available and have great instructions on how to correct the issue. Smooth checking, great communication, looking forward to staying at their properties more.

Excellent location and home

We loved our stay in this home which had all the amenities we needed to enjoy our time! Hot tub and sauna is amazing. Steam shower is incredible. Coffee pot is the best!

Christmas in Iceland

Our family braved the cold and spent a week in Iceland over Christmas. The property couldn’t have been better. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, steam sauna, cooking in the beautiful kitchen and the proximity to wonderful sights close by. It was a vacation to remember! If I could give more than five stars I would!

Wonderful accomodation

Stayed with the family (6 adults) for 5 days in this wonderful house - great space, very well equipped and finished, and all had a very good experience. Hot tub has a lovely location, and combined with the steam room was a lovely way to end the day

Very well comfortable home with a great location near the golden circle

The home has everything you need to easily cook meals in. The beds were very comfortable. We loved the living room with large windows and a fireplace. Great location for visiting the golden circle and an easy day trip to Vik. Perfect way to relax after busy days hiking. When we return we will definitely stay at this home again.

Wonderful house in beautiful location

This is a lovely house with everything you could want, in a beautiful remote setting. Contact with the host was quick and efficient. Accessing the property was straightforward.

Was very nice stay overall

The property was very beautiful and clean. Thorsteinn was easy to get ahold of and very helpful the few times we needed his help. Guest house heat was too hot and we could not turn down heating. Location very nice and secluded but also close enough to town for restaurants & grocery store. Was close enough to many fun things to do and see.

Good location, responsive host

Host is very responsive and helpful. The house is nice size and the shower rooms are big. Good location and convenient for road trips to different parts of the island. Plenty of appliances and fully stocked pantry. The dryer did not work properly so be aware of that.

Golden circle Iceland accommodations

This was the perfect spot to use as a base for all our activities. We rented 3 houses all were good but by far this was the best. The kitchen was very well equipped. A truly wonderful deck. Hot tub and sauna were amazing. Sitting in the sauna with a full glass wall with a beautiful Mountain View was great. We chose to meet at this house for evening meals because it was perfect for gathering . Plenty of parking -(this comment is for the guys ). We had a couple of issues which usually happens anytime you rent for a few weeks. Thorensteinn the owner was Uber responsive and met our needs immediately. If you are hesitating about renting, don’t worry you will love the place. Thanks for a truly amazing stay Thorensteinn.

Perfect beautiful home and location!

Our group of 10 stayed at Thorsteinn's property for just under a week and it was absolutely perfect for us! The home was well appointed and centrally located for exploring the Southwest portion of the country (we took day trips to Reykjavik as well as Vik in addition to the Golden Circle, all of which were easy to get to from the house). We cooked most of our meals at home and the kitchen had everything we needed, plus the layout allowed for us to gather around the kitchen island to chat and cook together as a group, which was really nice. The front room has a super comfy sectional couch where our group could gather post-dinner to play games and enjoy each other's company with a lovely fire in the fireplace going in the background. We were even lucky enough to get an awe inspiring Northern Lights show on our first night there (which we enjoyed from the hot tub). Our group's experience was 10/10 and I highly recommend staying at Thorsteinn's home!

Birthday getaway

The house was a good size for the 5 of us, kitchen/ dining area was a lovely space to hang out at. However, there was no-where (besides someone's bedroom) to hang out and watch a movie together, although the blueprint of the second floor shows a movie room type space, but in reality there are multiple beds in there and a small couch. The house really needed a thorough clean, fixing of blinds, pocket doors and shower doors, as only one person could shower at a time with privacy although the house advertises as having 2 showers. There was also no-where to hang/ store clothes in the main bedroom, which meant living out of the suitcase for the week. The wardrobe was filled top to bottom with spare linen. If anyone books the house with a baby, please note there is no bathtub, although a cot is provided.

A Happy New Year Stay

Our family of six - three couples - stayed at Grund for a week over New Years and had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Our arrival was a bit of an adventure as a snowstorm had preceded our arrival and it was a bit of a guessing game as to where the actual road was! I agree that this is not a place to arrive at during the dark of winter. Daylight is a necessity. Our home away from home was very comfortable and we wanted for nothing. We loved the big windows, the large kitchen area and the cozy seating area by the wood burning fireplace. We found the hot pot to be very hot. It is heated through the geothermal system and we had no way to turn it down except to shovel snow into it. Luckily we had lots of snow and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We too had trouble with the dryer until we realized that the water from the clothing drains into a reservoir which needs to be emptied regularly. Once we did this, it worked great. We found the location to be close to towns for groceries and also easy to get to the golden circle attractions. As we were there in winter with lots of snow, our four wheel drive Toyota Landcruiser was a Godsend. There were many people on the icy roads without four wheel drive and most of them looked terrified, for good reason. Getting stuck in the middle of no where - in the dark - would not be fun. We would go back to Grund and to Iceland in a heartbeat. The people are wonderful, the scenery captivating and there are so many wonderful places to hike.

Rural Selfoss

Our family of 11 had a perfect stay in this quiet, rural area close to Selfoss. The setting, location, and facilities fit our every need. We stayed for five days and were able to drive the Golden Circle, visit the South Coast and Vik. The kitchen is spacious for 3-4 chefs and well furnished. Our family enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. What a treat to relax at the end of each day. Thank you to our hosts Thorsteinn and Bjargey.

Fantastic Family House

Very nice place to stay and relax after a day trip. Plenty of room good showers and a hot tub sauna and steam bath. Very clean when we arrived. Good cooking facilities. We had a small issue with the hot water system that was solved quickly after consulting the owner.

Perfect home - in particular we loved the sauna, hot tub, steam room. Location perfect for all the attractions on the Golden Circle. Wonderful friendly people. Do try the food halls, perfect for kids who do not want to eat what dad and mum want! We will be back….

Great Location, Great Stay

I stayed here with my wife and adult children for part of our Iceland vacation. House was in great location for visits to the Golden Circle and we all enjoyed our stay. Check-in and check-out were easy, amenities were as described and communication from host was prompt. We would differently stay again if we visit in the future.

Great spot for relaxing

Thorsteinn was great at answering our many questions - very quick getting back to us as we had some issues with the sauna and hot tub but managed to get them going in the end. Lovely host, lovely property.

Perfect spot

Beautiful property about 20 minutes away from Selfoss. Fully equipped kitchen, heated floors, and enough space for a group or family. Thorsteinn was very quick with communication and very patient with our questions. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during our stay and will always have fond memories of Iceland!

Perfect location

Great time for our first trip to Iceland! Our family of 4, 2 college age sons, enjoyed a week of sightseeing and relaxation over the winter break. Grund was located perfectly for us to do short day trips up and down the southern part of Iceland during the short days. We didn’t use the hot tub or sauna because the snow was too deep around it but didn’t miss it at all. We were lucky to see several nights of northern lights with a spectacular display on New Year’s Eve. It is a great house ,location and host. Thanks for a wonderful visit!
