Fisherman sorting out his net on the beach in Youff. Yoff is a neighborhood in Dakar, but it is also a separate town with its own peculiarities. Yoff is known for its Muslim Community Council and its fishing villages and is considered slightly more conservative than more central parts of Dakar. To get a proper impression of traditional fishing and the beautiful pirogues a visit to the district Yoff is a good idea. Special algae cause the lake to appear pink
The African Renaissance Monument, completed in 2010 stands 49 meters tall. depicting a young man, guiding his wife and holding his small child facing into the west. The infant points ahead to indicate the glorious future, while the woman extends her arm behind to acknowledge the troubled past.

This bronze statue stands on top of a 100 meter hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is the tallest statue in Africa and is over one and-a-half times the height of the Statue of Liberty.
