"Great location downtown near good restaurants. The hotel is old and full of character and history. Microwave, good shower, many cable TV channels, refrigerator, elevator- all in good order. With a cinema and restaurant in the lobby. We watched a movie (The Sheep Detectives)."
"This is the best option in the area and we are big fans of the Hilton family of hotels (we stay there exclusively when this is an option). Everything was as expected for a Hampton Inn, including the workout room, layout of the room, and amenities. Five stars for pillows, hot water, and lack of noise. It was really hard getting an early check in, much harder than one would expect given the occupancy. We did end up getting it in plenty of time, which we appreciated. (It seemed like there were challenges with staffing.) We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again."
"The Room was basic. It had a desk chair and a bed. I would have liked a comfortable chair for watching TV and reading. I had to call for a luggage stand as there was none in the room. Breakfast was minimal and I had to find an attendant to replenish several items. The only cold cereals was heavily sugared, perhaps aimed at children. The "hot" water for tea was only lukewarm. Upon checkout I had to leave my keys at an unattended desk. That about sums up the experience. The only outstanding experience was check-in which was very friendly and helpful."
"The best thing about this property is the location, meaning it’s close to Smith College and a nice walk to downtown (if you don’t mind a relatively long hilly walk, which I like). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. The negatives were a somewhat absent and disinterested staff, a lingering smell (unpleasant) throughout the hotel (I opened the windows in our room to alleviate the smell), and the overall tired look of the facility - cracks in the ceiling, peeling paint etc. etc. An expensive price worth it if the location is what you need most, but the quality overall is mediocre."
Fairfield Inn & Suites Springfield Northampton/Amherst
10/10 Excellent
"The staff was professional and helpful. The location was very convenient to everything we wanted to do during our visit. It’s an easy walk to downtown if you’re so inclined."
