Puget Sound Beach House - Gorgeous Waterfront, Views - Beach Access

YOUR PRIVATE GETAWAY ON THE BEACH!!

For those seeking a peaceful nature retreat with stunning year-round water views, Agate Beach House is the perfect place to relax in solitude or gather with friends and family.

Privately nestled amidst towering fir trees, Agate Beach House offers wide-ranging views of Hammersely Inlet, 8-miles of winding saltwater connecting Oakland Bay with Puget Sound. Watch the playful seals, fish from the beach, dig clams for dinner, and (on rare but fortuitous occasions) witness pods of splashing Orcas from the home’s wraparound deck.

The beach house consists of almost 2300 square feet, sleeping up to ten guests (eight adults max please). There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs, with a third bedroom and an additional sleeping/entertainment room (with a door) and third bathroom downstairs.

The spacious main level living room features a cathedral ceiling and an entire wall of windows framing sweeping water views, which is equally mesmerizing in misty fog as when illuminated by bright sunshine. This room is comfortably and tastefully furnished with leather sofas, fireplace, 40” flat screen TV, DVD player, basic cable, a selection of books, as well as wireless internet (available throughout the house).

The open kitchen is fully equipped to prepare a gourmet feast, and includes a coffee maker, blender/food processor, commercial grade waffle maker and cookbooks.

Through the sliding glass doors of the adjoining dining room (seating 6 to 8), the large deck includes a gas grill and outdoor table and chairs overlooking the water. The yard is tastefully landscaped with mostly native shrubs and trees.

Still on the main level, the master bedroom offers a queen bed with water views, TV, and an en-suite bathroom with jetted tub (no shower in this bathroom). The guest bedroom next door faces the fir trees lining the private driveway. Furnished with a queen size bed, it is situated a few steps from the main level bathroom, which includes a tub and shower.

The downstairs living area offers limited views of the water, a cozy wood stove, and a sliding glass door to the lower garden. This spacious room with a door for privacy is furnished with a king sized bed and a twin bunk bed. The room also offers TV, videos, and board games. It is an ideal space to entertain children.

Also downstairs is yet another private bedroom with queen bed. There is also a third bathroom with a shower on the lower level.

WATER ACTIVITIES

Enjoy long strolls along the beach in either direction during low tide. Rent a kayak and have it delivered from the nearby town of Allyn (please note that the current strength varies throughout the day; consult tide schedule and kayak rental professionals regarding skill level requirements).

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS

Less than two hours’ drive from Seattle, Agate Beach House offers nearby conveniences and recreation including hiking, fishing, kayaking, wine tasting and fresh local seafood.

Fresh local oysters, Dungeness crab, and fresh and smoked clams can be purchased to bring home, from Taylor Shellfish’s Retail Store on the southern edge of Shelton. One and a half miles from Taylor Shellfish, visit the friendly staff at Walter Dacon Winery’s tasting room and sample their award-winning Washington wines.

In the opposite direction, seven miles north of Agate Beach House, on the way to Harstine Island State Park (which has been described as “the best kept secret in Puget Sound” for its pristine shorelines and protected forests accessible by hiking trails), the Olympic Bakery & Deli offers daily fresh baked goods, quick and healthy casual meals, and wine & cheese tastings.

Take a daytrip to the magical Olympic National Park, North America’s only temperate rainforest, with its breathtaking views and abundant wildlife.

Take the scenic ferry ride from Bremerton to downtown Seattle, where the ferry stops only a few blocks from Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market. Explore downtown Seattle by foot, avoiding the stress of navigating traffic and parking.

Less than 45 minutes’ drive from Shelton, scuba enthusiasts can dive with the giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels, rockfish, and anemones that reside in the clear waters of the Hood Canal.

The house had plenty of room for our family get-together of six adults, a teen and a child. The views of the full moon over the water were amazing. We enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding. The location is quiet and private and the grounds are lovely.

The house had plenty of space with four bedrooms and two bathrooms with showers (and the master with a soaker tub) for our large group. It was a beautiful house, with a nice view, great kitchen and living room, laundry facilities, and ample parking.

House is in a great location. The inlet is beautiful and the wildlife is spectacular. The house is nice but a lot of the facilities are tired. Dishwasher needs to be fixed, there are tears in the couches, and most of the house was well worn. Still, it is a nice home.

I recently stayed here and I must say it exceeded my expectations. The location was picturesque, with easy beach access. The house itself was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I highly recommend this beach house for a relaxing getaway in the Pacific Northwest.

House and property are amazing! Our stay was amazing! We did have a walking/ exploring 1 year old with us, and that turned out to be its own adventure, as the home has lots of things and decor within their reach.

This home was everything and more for our family. It was peaceful and we even got to enjoy seeing seals coming in and out of the cove.

Great place to go if you are not looking to go out and about. There is not much to do in the nearby town. The patio and deck furniture should be replaced, they were pretty rickety. I would also suggest replacing the deck boards and railing. They are very wobbly. Otherwise it was a great place!

Beautiful spot, clean home and comfortable beds. No AC and for the most part we didnt need it. We saw seals, otters, and 2 orcas on one morning. We enjoyed the lower deck and had a young boy who loved the beach crabs and finding treasures. The only thing I would change is the oven, it vents hot air into the kitchen and when it's hot outside and no AC, the upstairs in the summer is too hot. The pathways to the lower deck were nice but the it's just overgrown so you get whacked by bushes.

Had perfect weather to enjoy this house with a calming view of the water while sitting on the deck and from the large windows in the living room. All worked out great for our group with accommodations and kitchen supplies. The location is beautiful tho I’m glad we didn’t bring our own kayaks or paddle boards as it’s relatively steep getting down the steps to the water. Fun to walk on the beach when tide is if you don’t mind rocky barnicles. All in all we would recommend this home and definitely come back! 😊

We had a great stay here. The view was gorgeous and we got to see crabs, jellyfish, seals, and clams on the shore, as well as the daily tidal changes. We went to a Jarrell Cove State Park and did a nice easy hike with the kids where we also saw three deer. The house was big enough for six adults and three kids although the master bedroom mattress was not very comfortable. It was a quiet neighborhood where we could pick blackberries on our walks. Overall we had a great stay!

We really enjoyed watching the views come and go as the fog moved in and out. We were looking for a place with amazing view to take my folks for a few days. My mom has mobility issues and we liked that 2 bedrooms are on the main floor and the master has an ensuite bathroom. There are a few easy stairs to get into the house and once in she was able to get around easily with her walker. The grounds are lovely. Note the last step down to the beach is quite slippery, looks like it is often underwater during high tide.

We loved our stay here and totally recommend this spot. There are two sleeping rooms upstairs and two downstairs, which makes it a great layout for two families. BUT there are a million knickknacks and artifacts decorating this house, and it takes quite a bit of effort to child-proof the space. We think it was worth it because of the house layout and access to a beachy area, but we would have prepared a little differently had we known how much decor is at this house.

We spent the weekend at this property to have a quiet place to do some planning for our nonprofit organization. The space provided enough room to meet at the large dining table or for a more laid back talking area on the couches in the living room. We were able to take breaks during low tide to do some beach walking- it was perfect! The only downside is that we had five adult women, so one person slept on a bunk bed, and one slept on the futon (or tried), both were extremely uncomfortable for an adult person. This house would be great if you have small children and only three adults.

The house, cleanliness, check in, communication, were all excellent. The views are unmatched in my vacationing experience. But, the lack of yard space was an issue for 3 kids age 6-11. The back yard is beautifully landscaped and excellent vistas, but it is heavily sloped, and there is no beach to speak of when the tide is up, cutting down on play space for little ones. Because of the quiet location, it is unfortunately not within walking distance of attractions, parks, or town, so we had to load everybody up to get out and do things outside the house. There was only enough seating in the living room to comfortably seat 6. The listing noted games were available, but there were only puzzles. The final odd note is that the Master Bathroom has no shower. Just a bathtub. Again, this is an excellent house for Teenage and above, for hanging out, enjoying view with a cup of coffee. But for our group, not a perfect fit.

Spent the last few days of 2010 relaxing at the Agate Beach House! The mean living area was perfect for puzzles, reading, movies, and just watching the sun rise and set. Views are spectacular! Bedding and jetted tub are extra nice (but be sure no one is asleep downstairs before turning on the loud jets)!! We would have liked the kitchen to be a little more stocked (especially dish towels, coffee mugs, and cooking basics like oil, flour, etc) but those things will surely come as more guests stay at the house. Overall a very nice way to end the year!

This worked for our pinochle/canasta/game retreat of ladies. We never found the foil or plastic wrap which we usually find in other rentals. We were able to sit on the deck for awhile, but a few bees were a problem . . . no fault of the owners. I did have one problem with the picture of the front of the property.. I brought a bocce ball set to play on the grass, but there was only gravel although it gave us more room to park the 3 vehicles (probably best to update the photo on VRBO). Of course I would recommend this property.

First the good - Beautiful house, beautiful view. The upstairs beds were comfortable. Contact & replies were very efficient with property management/host. Now the not so good - Downstairs was a bit musty. Above the stove was dirty & greasy and I had to clean it so it didn’t drip into what I was cooking. And lastly, I know and understand on the limit on how many people that can stay the night in the home but I wish I could’ve invited more of my family members (14) over who lived close by (which was why I rented this house) to come over to have lunch & spend the afternoon and enjoy this beautiful home on one of the days. I paid quite a bit for just 3 people on a 3 day stay.

The house was nicely outfitted and had beautiful views. It was easy to find and the fireworks on the 4th of July weekend were spectacular to watch for 3 nights.. The beds were super comfy and with nice sheets and plenty of blankets were there. The kitchen had great accessories and the cooking utensils and pans were great. The pictures were exactly like the house showed and it was clean and comfy. The negative was the bathrooms. First the septic system in all bathrooms smelled bad and needed to be treated and in kitchen. Septic gases were nasty and coming up through the pipes. . The master bath does not have a shower and the tub was slippery in the other bathroom. I would of given this rental a 5 star if it weren't for the bathroom issues. I am sure the owners will be resolving this otherwise the place would of been perfect.

Seven old friends from high school and now retired (mostly) had a great weekend despite the unusually high temperatures in the upper 90’s each day. The house is beautiful and situated on Hammersly Inlet in South Puget Sound. We especially enjoyed watching Orcas passing by and close enough to hear them exhale as they surfaced. However, there are simple things that could be addressed to make the house as spectacular as the setting. First, if the house is not going to be air conditioned, then at least the front door should have a screen to allow it to be opened for purposes of cross ventilation without inviting in a horde of flying bugs. The use of area rugs without non skid backing caused a fall by one in the group who walks with a cane. And as many have noted before, the downstairs shower head needs to be changed so that you don’t have to constantly hold it to shower.

Overall a positive experience. Incredible views, plenty of space for the 6 adults and 2 small kids, and the management company was incredibly communicative, answering questions about recs for kayak rentals and where to get fresh seafood. One thing to note is the additional guest fee applies when you have more than 6 people staying, although it can accommodate 10 people very comfortably. So, in our case, we were a group of 8, and paid additional $$ for our 2 and 5 year old to share the bunk room. It seems they could be more transparent about this in the listing. The property was also pretty overgrown so we spent the first bit there moving blackberry branches back so we could easily get down to the beach with my parents and kids and sweeping walkways so we wouldn’t track in debris. Again the property manager was responsive to getting in touch with the owner to have a yard crew come out but they weren’t able to make it out until the evening of our last night. Beautiful views, beach access, and nice place to kayak with small kids, overall it really was a fun few days!
