Great fishing stay

Overall, clean, well appointed kitchen and a great cabin feel with lots of wood and comfy furniture. Open plan first floor is great for cooking and hanging out. Private dock on the river was cool...with nice views. The trail down to the river is about 100 paces on a gravel, switchback, fairly steep path. There are two benches for resting if needed...but it is steep. We had a few minor issues, but the manager and staff were very efficient. It is a cabin, and as such the outside furnishings are a bit rustic. Would recommend for a secluded getaway in the woods with river access and a big deck outside!

Recommend this cabin

This was our first VRBO experience as we wanted a short and relaxing weekend trip after non-stop business travel. The cabin was great and liked the location, being right on the river and wooded area with nice trail. There is a farm across the river so wasn't totally secluded but still was peaceful and didn't really notice. Near a busy road however you don't notice/see it once your drive down to the cabin. The firepit, hot tub, grill and canoes/kayak were awesome! Nice that firewood was available and also that the kitchen had all cookware, dishes/glassed and utensils to prepare a meal. The added little "surprises" were a nice touch making you feel more welcomed. There were a few things that attributed to the -1 star and some disappointment not major though. The biggest one was that the gas/oil fireplace did not work as it ran out of oil right when we turned it on, definitely disappointing when staying for a relaxing/romantic weekend. The owner tried to get someone to come fix this but unfortunately being Sunday nothing was open. Appreciate the effort, would have felt better if even a slight compensation was offered. Additionally there were a few light bulbs burnt out as well as the battery candles not working (both minor I know). Those were the only negatives we experienced during our stay. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would recommend.

Perfect getaway

We are originally from the area and were excited to make the trip back after many years away. House was as described and perfect for our small family. No neighbors around, in the middle of nowhere, but Skyline Drive and some of our favorite wineries were just 30 minutes away. The driveway can be challenging and be careful when flipping over the canoes. Other than that, the house exceeded expectations.

Cleanliness

The house wasn't cleaned before my arrival. That trash was full and all of the sheets were stripped off of the beds and on the floor.

Peaceful and convenient location

We had a wonderful family spring vacation at the cabin, with our kids to see Shenandoah and Luray Caverns. The kids had fun playing in the huge yard and the camp fire and s'mores supplies. Our dog enjoyed sleeping on the deck after our hikes in Shenandoah and the Yellow Cliffs Overlook trail. There is a short hike down to the river and the kayaks. It was close enough to everything we wanted to see and a short drive to stores. When we arrived the hot water wasn’t working and management company quickly contacted the owner and within a 1/2 hour the property manager was out to repair the water-heater. We had hot water within an hour or so. They texted to make sure everything was working the following day. We had no issues with anything else the rest of our week. The cabin had everything you’d need. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
