The owner was lovely. My room had exceptional view of and access to the sea. It was cleaned daily, although some of the fixtures were very tired. While noise during high season in a busy hotel is to be expected, it was out of season and it was only three single guests staying. However I could clearly hear the next door neighbours’ every single word through the poorly soundproofed walls - just as if the person was standing right next to me.
Regarding hotel transfer: buses are frequent, cheap and on time. For a more relaxed start, take the bus from the port to Artemonas (final stop). Take the bus to Platis Gialos. The bus stop is opposite the hotel. While wait for the second bus, grab a cappuccino and a bite to eat at the bar opposite the bus stop in Artemonas. You won't regret it! A cab could set you back between 25-30 Euros one way. If you suffer from motion sickness, don't forget your meds - you'll need them!
