Located in the quaint historic town of Silver Plume - founded in the 1860's during the gold and silver rush - the false-front main street and unpaved roads will take you back in time. Bread Bar - located in the former Sopp & Truscott Bakery which was established in the 1880's and operated as a bakery for over 100 years - is just a short walk down Main Street and offers unique libations, food and live music on weekends in an eclectic setting. Georgetown is two miles East on I-70 and has many restaurants, shopping, grocery supplies, and mine and rail tours. Hiking, biking, snowshoeing, back country ski touring, bird watching, wildlife viewing, rock and ice climbing are right outside the door.
Follow the back yard trail up to the Griffin Memorial monument and during the right time of year you may find some wild strawberries and raspberries or see a Big Horn Sheep or Mountain Goat. Or sit on the covered front porch with a cup of tea and enjoy the light on Sunrise Peak as the sun comes up or the hummingbirds as they migrate and play. Wherever your vacation takes you, Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage will become your home away from home.

We LOVED our stay here. It was our first time to Colorado and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Darcee and her family were so kind and accommodating. We cannot wait to come back!
The cottage was great and exactly what we expected. The location is perfect, right down the street from Georgetown and not far from Loveland and Keystone. Overall we could not have had a better experience.
This was our 2nd stay at this lovely cabin. We came back to celebrate our 3 ye anniversary to climb Mt Blue Sky and Mt Bierstadt. It was a super successful trip and we love staying at this cabin because it is a quaint little town nearby everything we need. We will be back again when we plan another trip to this area of Colorado.
The cottage worked out well for our purpose this weekend. Clean, convenient to local restaurants in Georgetown, and our host was very responsive. Only thing I would improve was the seating on the porch, needed something a little more relaxing that I could have napped in.. overall a great place
This place was everything we wanted and more. It is easy to get to and the little town was quaint and friendly. While there were no restaurants in Silver Plume, Georgetown is 2 miles away and had lots of great options. We really enjoyed our stay here and we will be back to hike another fourteener next year!
The cottage and the town were perfect. It was a great spot to explore Idaho Springs, Georgetown, Frisco and Breckinridge. Loved the quaintness of Silver Plume and the beautiful cottage to come back to after exploring. The cottage had everything! The beds were comfortable and the decorating was amazing. I could live there. We couldn’t have rent a more wonderful place and location to pick. Many thanks Darcie for sharing this slice of heaven. Vicki
Silver Plume is only 5 minutes from Georgetown, half hour from Frisco/Silverthorne. We went to hike, and there are trails in every direction. The town is very small and very quiet (although you can hear the highway). Dirt roads. This house provided us with a comfortable base of operations. It is old, so do not expect all the top of the line amenities, but it was what we required - a clean, comfortable place to rest between activities.
Before we even got to the house, we drove right by a small herd of Bighorn Sheep. They were within petting zoo distance. That set the tone for the rest of the stay. Weather was ideal for this time of year.
The was more than enough room for the two of us, and it could easily accommodate two more.
Silver Plume itself is the Mayberry of Colorado. Everyone knows everyone and everything is walking distance.
Anything dining is just down the road in Georgetown. There were no bad places to dine. Definite repeat if we are in the area.
Remember, leave a note in the guest log and leave coffee for the next guests. Pay it forward!
Interesting, quirky, comfortable and accommodating
My family, son, daughter-in-law and a 4 and 2 yr old stayed in the house. It was so cleverly decorated with items from the mining community and plenty of antiques. We continued to see items and say, have you seen this? It was so interesting. Everything was provided for our comfort including a pack and play for the little man, we surely appreciated that. The property was stunning nestled into the base of a rocky mountain that provided plenty of trails for hiking. Loved the little coffee house that was within walking distance. The kids enjoyed the playground close by. The house provided plenty of room to spread out and relax with all the modern accommodations. The backyard patio surrounded by stacked rocks with ample seating room was nice to take in the afternoon sunshine in a nature setting. If we come back this way, we’d definitely stay again if available.
Very cozy and quaint - loved the retro feel of the house. It was the perfect location for us to attend a concert at red rocks. We also enjoyed the local history - plume coffee and bread bar. We hope to return someday!
Nice quiet charming rustic miner's cabins with all the amenities. Very clean and close to all the Summit county resorts, without having to navigate the Summit county congestion while resting. Highly recommended!
The unit was small but nice and had what we needed. It is an interesting place with lots on antiques. Great location right off I-70.
The only complaint is that the living room could of had more lights since it was a little dark.
We have a family tradition of skiing the day after christmas. We love coming to the mountains. I loved your home. Thank you for having everything available.
We spent the week the week of Christmas at Darcee and Eben's cottage to ski up the road at Loveland. It was fantastic. The cottage has a coziness factor of well over 9000. It was particularly cold during our stay (-5 - 10F), and the cottage stayed toasty warm. It's situated in Silver Plume and not subject to the hustle/bustle you get when you stay at resort. Some nights we ate in and others we ventured down I-70 East 1 mile to the Georgetown exit and ate a Copper's on the Creek. We can't wait to stay here again.
