Head skyward on one of North America's tallest Ferris wheels for an unbeatable 360-degree vista across the Atlantic and the great state of South Carolina.

The SkyWheel forms the impressive centrepiece of Myrtle Beach's 1.9-kilometre Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade. Take flight in one of its 42 air-conditioned gondolas and marvel at the spectacular views. The 10-12 minute trip completes three rotations, and at the apex you'll be suspended a vertiginous 57 metres above ground. If your party is less than six people, but you want a gondola all to yourself, just ask at the ticket booth. Or for something a little more glamorous, book one of the SkyWheel's VIP Gondolas. Admire the views in style and at your leisure these gondolas have leather seats and glass floors, and complete double the number of rotations. Better yet, there's no need to wait in line, and your VIP package includes a souvenir t-shirt.At night, the views of the SkyWheel are as stunning as those from its gondolas. The towering wheel becomes a kaleidoscope of pulsating colour, as more than a million LED lights affixed to the structure light up the evening sky. After your ride, take a stroll along North Ocean Boulevard and stop off in one of its many restaurants or bars.If it's good food and a cold beer you're after, look no further than the expansive LandShark Bar & Grille. Conveniently located at the base of the SkyWheel, this oceanfront restaurant is one of three in Myrtle Beach owned by the legendary musician Jimmy Buffet. As you'd expect, an evening here is a cheerful and laid-back affair. Enjoy a bottle of LandShark's eponymous lager as you take in the sea views, or ask the bartender to mix you a house cocktail. Before you head home, get your commemorative SkyWheel or LandShark Lager merchandise at the LandShark SurfShack next door. You can buy your SkyWheel tickets online, but take a look at the seasonal opening hours on the website first, or phone ahead to check. The SkyWheel is open every day and you'll find it on Ocean Boulevard.
