I visited for the purpose of hiking at Natural Bridge State Park. It was basic and clean. No wi-fi which is okay. There was cable tv. I had a chance to read a lot which I prefer to tv and the internet. When I tra el for hiking all I need is a clean room, hot water, and a bed to sleep in. The only negative is that the mattress outlived its usefulness.

Only provided us with 1 bath towel. We tried to call them for another one since there were 2 of us but no one available on their overnite contact #. Also questioned the cleanliness of the sheets. They were gritty when we went to bed and I found a long black hair between the sheets. I have shirt grey hair and my husband is bald. Other than that, the place was fine. Location was great for what we were doing.

It was OK but less than what I expected. The web site refers to it as a 'lodge'. Based on the price I did not have high expectations. Maybe the sheets were clean but they did not seem fresh. There was a bundle of TP under the unclean bedspread. Would not book again at any price.

The room was cute. There was what looked like a big dried coffee spill on the bathroom sink when I arrived, and the comforter had a slightly unpleasant smell. Otherwise was clean, comfortable. The woman that checked me in was very nice. Close to natural bridge area. Coffee shop next door was great. No internet or cell service so be warned. Good for the price.

I think it was clean other than that the coffee in our room was horrible. It was a excellent stay, just passing through, met all our needs. On a personal note I liked the decor it was awesome to stay in this roon I am use to 4 stars or above and love this place. The shower was awesome and the small town gIrl who was the maid was pleasing to the eyes.

Very quaint and cozy room. The water pressure in the shower alone rates a 5 star review! My only complaint was lack of WiFi which would have been great in an area where I barely get 1 bar on my phone.

Looking for a quiet, hometown place? This is it. Don’t expect cell service and there are no land lines so that was spooky. The people were friendly, the hike was beautiful. Carry a sound fan or machine because the walls are thin.

There was a small difficulty with a noisy neighbor in the hotel. A phone call to the lodge resolved the problem immediately.

We only stayed one night, but had a great experience. The beds were comfy, the Motel was very close to Natural Bridge Park, etc. I wouldn't change a thing.

My granddaughter woke up this morning with bites from head to toe. The only explanation would be bed bugs of some kind in her bed as I have none. Room 209 bed closest to bath

We are sorry that this happened! We do a routine bug spray, which includes a spray for bed bugs. Our housekeeping supervisor and our pest control company have checked the room and found no evidence of any type of bugs in the bed or the room.

A rustic place to stay, good value for the money. Spent 3 nights, comfortable bed and place to sleep after long hikes in the RRG. Only negative is that the room tended to be a bit damp if the AC wasn't cranked up.

Our stay was fine. The room was clean. But there was a musty odor. It wasn't overwhelming. But i noticed it and its worth mentioning. The bed was pretty hard. But we only stayed one night, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Our main complaints were the check in/check out process and no cell service/wifi. Having to check in and out at a separate location isn't the problem. The problem is it is located inside of a store/restaurant that is extremely busy. Its kind of difficult to get to the office to check in/out. There are just so many people in such a small area. As far as cell service/wifi, my concern is that there is no way to reach emergency services if needed because the room didnt have a landline. The owners really need to either have landlines installed or get wifi just for the safety of their guests. Overall, its a decent motel for the money.

Not trying to be mean but it was damp and mildew smell was horrible the beds sucked they need to get some dehumidifiers in there rooms or something…thought maybe it was just our room but asked some other guest and they said there rooms were same way….probably won’t stay there again unless things are changed

I loved the black bear lodge decor! It felt like i was staying in a log cabin! The room was clean and comfortable. It was nice being able to sit outside. One thing i would add if you could... Wifi...i would Def stay here again!

No cell service
The phone service was terrible! Honestly if something would have gone wrong I would have had to get out of the holler to find service. Even down the road at the Mexican restaurant we had NO CELL PHONE SERVICE. The females 2 doors down were noisy and load! They slept with the window raised in their room all night. Everything else about the room was in excellent condition except the stinch from mildew in the air.

I only gave three stars because the room was very damp and smelt musty/mildewy. We stayed in room 102. It was overall clean and tidy, but VERY moist (bedspread was actually damp) and smelt mildewy.
