Property was just as described. The kitchen was very spacious and worked great when staying for a length of time. Close proximity to Notre Dame also worked very well for us. Very happy with this rental and would stay again.
Lovely, older house with character. Clean and well equipped. Very nice neighborhood, 5 minutes from Notre Dame.Management company communicated well and was responsive.
If you’re reading this review wondering if you should book this property, the answer is YES, BOOK. This house is gorgeous, spotlessly clean and well-appointed. There was literally more sitting rooms than our group of 10 could use and the screened-in back porch is perfect for morning coffee or evening nightcap. The kitchen is wonderful and the dining room made for a perfect spot-down spot for a family meal. The neighborhood is equally beautiful, quiet and close to wonderful shops as well as Notre Dame’s campus. We will most definitely stay here again!
We came to South Bend for a baseball tournament and enjoyed our stay at Harter Heights Hideaway. Plenty of space and close to everything we needed. Nice, quiet neighborhood.
We had a nice reunion . This home met all our needs . Property is just like pictures . It could use updating but clean and adequate for our needs . Location is great.

Liked: Communication, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
The dishwasher was full of molding dishes, rodent feces in utensil drawers and cabinets, no sponges or cleaning items and a sticky kitchen floor without supplies to clean it.Minimal clean towels.Laundry room: washing machine and dryer were full of mildew towels. One full bath only had a couple servings of body wash and the other had none.I had to ask for soap and sponges.
Good location, housekeeping issues, poor AC upstairs
This property is conveniently located to campus for the activities we attended. It was late June and AC on the 2nd level, where all the bedrooms were, was poor. 4 of our party slept downstairs on sofas and lounges in the basement. There were also housekeeping issues that should have been addressed prior to our arrival. Linens in dryer, dishes in dishwasher, coffee in coffee pot, some trash wrappers and Gatorade bottle on floor on the 2nd level, food left in refrigerator- were some of the problems we encountered. Knowing this is an older residence, we were ok with the accommodations. I would not stay here again unless it was winter and did not have to worry about a comfortable nights sleep

The house was very dirty. I expected an older house with worn furnishings but was not prepared for this level of filth. There were dirt and hair on the sheets in the bed, and we spent the first evening washing all the linens. The kitchen was dirty to the point that we had to scrub it before we felt comfortable cooking in it. The refrigerator was particularly disgusting. The bathrooms were also very dirty. The host company sent someone to clean the bathrooms, but only after we had been in there more than a day.The final insult was having an electrician show up an hour before we were supposed to check out to do an electrical upgrade. Generally, not a problem, but I was uncomfortable leaving with a random worker in the house that I was responsible for. I finally got the host company to reply that he was authorized but it took an hour. The host company offered us a 1/2-day refund but after 45 days, I have not seen it.On the bright side it is a great location for a Notre Dame weekend, but the bad experience with badly marred our time there. We weren't 7 25-year-old guys who don't even notice cleanliness. This was a three-generation trip that included 3 little boys who were experiencing Notre Dame for the first time, and the lack of cleanliness to even the basic standard made the stay uncomfortable.

Older House in a nice neighborhood
The house is a hundred years old and in need of some upkeep and attention. The house is listed as a two and half bath home however we were essentially only able to use the basement shower. The drains in the upstairs tub and sink were clogged and did not drain properly which would have been obvious when the house was being cleaned prior to our arrival. We contacted management the morning after arriving to let them know with the understanding that it was a holiday weekend. Prior to checkout we contacted management again to ask for a one hour extension on checkout due the fact that we were down to one shower being used by our entire family and it took us a little longer to get ready. The request was approved for an additional fee! Since communication was coming from both the vrbo app as well as texts from an additional number, I reminded them of the clogged drains. They were aware of the drain issue and eventually, although seemingly reluctantly, allowed us an extra hour for checkout without a fee. We, however, made sure to wake up extra early and to be out of the house during the advertised checkout time so as not to inconvenience them!
Communication was great and directions on all things navigating the house were easy. You can’t beat the location as it’s adjacent to the Tri-campuses. The basement was a great place for our daughter and friends to come over and play games. The only challenge was when we arrived at the house- trying to navigate the electrical switches throughout the house because some were hard to find. The breaker to the dining room lights was unscrewed from the breaker switch in the electrical panel which caused a little confusion when having students over for dinner. Also, the house could use some more smoke detectors throughout the house and the one we did find didn’t have a battery in it. Aside from that, we really enjoyed the home and had a great stay.
