Enjoy a vacation on one of Maine's quintessential islands with breathtaking views of John's Bay from the widows deck in this topsy turvy Victorian cottage. Bedrooms are on the second floor, kitchen, living room and dining on the third floor. The rocky water frontage is down a windy path with Adirondack chairs to sit and enjoy the fabulous sunsets. The town dock is available just down the street. Sail or boat out of Christmas Cove (mooring available or Sail Boat with Captain). The bustling village of Damarriscotta with fabulous shopping and dining is only 13 miles away, the famous Pemaquid Lighthouse and beach are only 15 miles away, or Booth Bay Harbor by car is only 30 miles away and by boat 5 miles away.

We loved this super unique home! Rutherfords Island is so lovely and Jill was the perfect host. We had everything we needed for our summer vacation. It was quiet and there are gorgeous walks in every direction. We had an amazing stay and will definitely book this property again!

Super cute!!

House was well appointed and owner was very responsive and helpful. The location was great for our family as we were visiting with others in Christmas Cove. Love the three levels of living space. Lots of stairs, but that did not bother us!

Quiet escape in Bristol Maine

Jill is great with communication. The place is perfect partially obstructed water view but great from the top loft. Quiet area away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to Boothbay and Pemaquid. Damariscotta is 15 minutes away. We would certainly recommend and return.

Very unique property. All our group loved Jill's place. A little confusing as where to park and dispose of trash. Perhaps a visiting midwesterner is a dumb dumb to coastal Maine instructions. We all would stay again!!

Perfect Long Weekend Get Away

A group of dear friends and I had an amazing weekend in Christmas Cove thanks to Jill and her rental house. The house was perfect for all of us and located in quaint and lovely part of Maine. The house is better in person, with great lighting, hardwood floors, and a large kitchen and living room. Jill, was a great host and gave us plenty of local insights. She was very responsive to our questions. Thanks so much for providing a wonderful weekend getaway for my friends and me!

Great house and area

The house felt extremely comfortable and charming. Great mattresses and the house is solidly built - not creaky for an older home and sound doesn’t travel from upstairs / next door. The only downside is the tricky stairs with a young child or elderly person to get to the third floor living room / kitchen. It’s a very special neighborhood - two minute drive to a charming beach cove and two minute drive to a great waterside restaurant, Coveside. The host was extremely thoughtful and communicative. I highly recommend it!

A charming vacation on a charming island

We stayed at ' The Castle House' of Rutherfords Island, Christmas Cove, for a short break. The property is very nice and well equipped. Jill (our host) is very accommodating and helpful. Her recommendations (for restaurants, activities, and places to see) were spot on. She also took us out on a pleasant and relaxing sale, around the cove. We recommend this property, and host, wholeheartedy!

Perfect Maine Experience

This is a lovely, comfortable house situated in the Christmas Cove community. Jill couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. She gave my grandson a large stuffed bee which he slept with the whole time we were there. You can walk to Osiers for food and lobsters and down to the beach. The views are lovely. It was a great experience and we will certainly go back.
