Padre South Hotel On The Beach

10/10 Excellent

"Clean room. Nice staff. Beach and pool view. Good breakfast. All amenities were good, clean, and available. Beach access area was beautiful. *Staff is a bit loud in the hallways during check out time, so if you are not up by 9am or 10am be prepared to hear hollering in the hall. We did not sleep in like usual but I think if we did I would have been frustrated, just a note for future reference. * If you are using the beach access be careful with cactus that are over growing on some parts of the path especially for little ones. I had to be extra careful that my littlest one did not lean too close to the edges of the path. * Other then that it was soo nice and relaxing."

"Due to the hotel being one of the host hotels for the 76th International Women’s Convention, the property was really crowded. The staff was excellent, just had to wait on the 3 elevators a lot. We love our king room setup even though the bathtub was old and the hot water wasn’t hot"

"The property was nice until we got into our room. The TV did not work correctly. The bathroom door looked like it had been in a flood and was almost molded and warped on the bottom. Long black hairs in the shower. Air conditioner was super loud. The Starbucks was never open when it was supposed to be. It was our first time in SPI....the island itself is beautiful but do not stay here. Spend your $$ elsewhere."

"Online photos were deceiving. Hotel was outdated, very nasty, room smelled like mildew. Was given another room only to find the FRIDGE SITTING IN THE SHOWER! My son’s room also had a smell, last night of stay water starting dripping down in the bathroom and eventually the ceiling fell down. General manager, Anthony Farrah never followed up, refused to take our calls and didn’t return our calls when we reached out. By the way my son did not receive a refund and I was charged even though I left the property the night I checked in due to the conditions of the rooms."

"Breakfast was good. Housekeeping staff were good. That's about it. Ice machines out of order. Television in both rooms malfunctioned and one replaced with smaller unit. Second television lost connection three times and required reset of Internet connection. Everything about the hotel seemed old and shower needs repair. I plan to avoid La Quinta in the future; I don't trust them. My friend said waffles were not good and her room had Spyders and hair in bathroom. Not good."

"Awful! Our AC leaked water all over the tile, the deadbolt on our door didn’t lock. Jeanette at the front desk was incredibly rude after we contacted Expedia. She told us she sent maintenance up, w/o even asking our concerns. He then came in, drilled the door, vacuumed out the AC, and left. He didn’t speak English, so we weren’t sure the next steps. Front desk never followed up. AC continued to leak for remainder of our stay. We had to lay towels down. Water leaking on a tile floor equals lots of slipping hazards. We tried to leave the property, but Expedia and the hotel refused to refund us. Sending a maintenance man to the room w/o even confirming our concerns, not being able to communicate AND no follow up from Jeanette was insane. Our stay was awful! Awful! We would still like to be compensated for our awful experience. (Additionally our bathroom shower was disgusting, advertisement of bar and grill is incredibly inaccurate given the small pizza shop, and most staff was not friendly) I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone!"

"Overall, my stay was okay, but it was disappointing compared to what was advertised. The pictures online made the resort look much nicer than it actually was. Upon arrival, it felt like a completely different property, which came across as a bait-and-switch situation. The resort was under construction/remodeling during my stay, and that created several issues. I had to be moved from one room to another, the elevator frequently had problems and even got stuck, and the room key cards often did not work properly. The bright spot of the experience was the staff. Everyone was friendly, professional, and helpful. Housekeeping did an excellent job and was one of the best parts of my stay. While the customer service was great, the overall condition and appearance of the resort did not match the expectations set by the photos. I hope that once the renovations are completed, the property will better reflect what is being advertised."
