Shoreline Inn & Conference Center, an Ascend Collection Hotel
8/10 Good
"Staff was helpful and friendly. There is no continental breakfast which is a downside because there are not a lot of easy breakfast options nearby. Views from our room were lovely and the room was comfortable, clean and quiet. I would stay here again."
"The staff at this hotel was truly exceptional. Welcoming, warm, great communicators, efficient. The location of this hotel is excellent for our family which was visiting for a high school swim tournament at the Holland Aquatic Center. We had room 302, which was perfect for our family for 4. Very spacious, comfortable beds, and excellent space for our family. We loved having the Koffee shop in the entry, and the walkability to downtown Holland."
"The pros:
The full breakfast was delicious and had a large variety of items. Cheese omelettes bacon and sausage and premade mix to make your own waffles. There was cereal, danishes, bagels, and oatmeal as well. Unfortunately there were no allergy friendly options but it was well worth it for our family.
The staff was excellent. Both the evening when we checked in and the morning while getting breakfast and checking out were very friendly and helpful.
The price, we got a bundled deal which made costs pre-2020 prices.
The cons:
The room smelled. Not horrible but def a bit musty and old. We had a courtyard room which is the detached motel section. The toilet took forever to refill after being flushed; we did tell them about this though. There was a small amount of mold in the bathroom around the edges of the ceiling. The room was tidy and the beds were clean but the rest of the room needed a good dusting and deep clean.
We would def stay here again though less likely to pick a room in the motel section. We did not get to check out the other amenities as our stay was only one night. "
"Couldn't use the tub and the bathroom was just kinda gross. Not sure if this is the case with dog-friendly rooms, but pretty poor condition and felt pretty cheap (not in a good way). "
"Trash! don’t stay here unless you love the smell and look of water damage. Walked in the room and noticed a very weird smell that would absolutely be noticed by staff but clearly they didn’t care. If this wasn’t enough I was woken up before 6am to the sound of water dripping on side the walls and leaking into the shower. Yes, the dirt and mold from the wall spilled into the bathroom, making the smell worse. Paying for the room felt like an insult. I should have stayed at the $60 days inn down the road.TLDR, bad smell, dirty and moldy. Zero stars, this will be my last stay at a double tree from here on out. This also fails the cover the lack of any amities beyond two of the saddest looking hotel restaurants I’ve ever seen, like old folks type place. F**k this place."
"couldn't seem to get our heater to throw out heat. finally after turning off and on again got it to work. second morning we woke up and room was freezing cold. discovered that the window trim was broken and cold air was pouring in and over powering any heat. notified the desk on departure."
