Loved our stay
Check in and out was easy. The owner was friendly and informative and reachable if needed. Hot tub was great. Beds were great. Pool table was great. Everything was clean and stocked to accommodate a large group. Easy location off exit for those who don't know the area. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm at the gorge with a large group ❤️

Beautiful property and cabin!
We just love this place. It is so spacious and 9 people in there it didn’t feel like we was on top of each other. This is the second year in a row that we have booked this cabin and will be booking it again for next year. Jim is super awesome and easy to get ahold of.

Wonderful Family Reunion!
Our family enjoyed a week in this beautiful log cabin, located in the extremely scenic Red River Gorge area. There was plenty of room for our group of 14 (ages 1 to 65) to spread out and sleep comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped and functional, with all appliances in good working order. The decks were spacious and comfortable, with a well maintained hot tub. We spent many enjoyable hours playing pool. Many trails were a short drive away, with varying length and levels of difficulty, and with some spectacular views of rock arches and sheer cliffs. Jim provided copious recommendations for hiking and local events, and was a truly gracious yet unobtrusive host. Should we find ourselves in the area in the future, we wouldn't hesitate to rent this cabin again. Thank you so much Jim for sharing your cabin with us!

Hogg family vacation
We loved the cabin, it was fully equipt. We had fum with th pool table, and corn hole and hot tub. Everything we wanted to do at the state park was so close. And so much fun. Lots of places to hike and swim. Zipling and undergroumd kayakimg was amazing. The natuarl bridge , Sunset on chimney top. Nada tunnelwas so cool! We did so much and it was all so convienent to get to. Dudbt want to leave.

Nice cabin and well stocked kitchen
Thirteen of us stayed in the cabin for 4 nights. The kitchen was very well stocked - pots, pans, silverware, etc. We cooked all but one dinner there. The communication with the owner was smooth and he was extremely pleasant to work with. The driveway is tricky getting into and out of but after a couple times it became easy. Be sure to follow his instructions. If we were to stay again we would bring air mattresses because the futons were not very comfortable. The only negative is something that can’t be changed: the road noise when you are outside. You can’t see the road but you can hear it. The location of the cabin is perfect for getting to trailheads. We had a great time.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The cabin accommodated our needs and offered plenty of room for us all. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool table when we were not hiking or kayaking. Cabin was close to the trails, shops and stores.

FANTASTIC
We spent our 25th wedding anniversary at this place and it was WONDERFUL! The location is convenient to Red River Gorge and there are several things to do in the area. The cabin is not easy to access but that is expected (it's a mountain cabin). The owner explained exact instruction on getting to the property. The place was great! The owner communicated with us and checked in to make sure everything was good at the property. Everything listed on the site are exactly as expected. We took advantage of the grill and the hot tub. I'm so glad we stayed at this cabin. We couldnt have asked for better communication. Blessings to you sir! Thanks for providing such a nice place for us to enjoy and celebrate our anniversary with our family!

Perfect for group weekend in the gorge
We were a group of 13 geologists spending the weekend touring the gorge. There was plenty of room for everyone, and the hot tub was very popular at the end of each day. The host's details/directions and communication were top notch.

Great experience
We started coming to the area near Slade for a few years now and each time is amazing. Beautiful location and always a great experience with the area and how beautiful the scenery is. This particular location I have to brag on the communication of the owners and their story behind their cabin. It's not often to hear from someone such as the Taylor's that were just amazing to talk to and you learn to appreciate them sharing their home and investment. They were just a phone call away when needed. We look forward to spending time there again very soon.

We finally got to take our annual ladies weekend trip. We picked the perfect place. The house was big enough for everyone to have their own space but still be close to everyone. The owner was responsive and helpful. The only issue we have is most of us are 60+ years old and there are a lot of steps.

Cancelled due to weather, but very nice owner!
The location just up the hill from a variety of things to do is great, however the Christmas 2022 bomb cyclone cold snap ruined our plans to celebrate here. The access is too steep and not conducive to having several vehicles for our family Christmas celebration. With the frigid, icy conditions we decided to celebrate elsewhere to avoid any issues. Jim was very responsive and nice to deal with.

Hollerwood Weekend Getaway
Very nice owners, quick to respond and accommodate. Plenty of room to spread out, lots of towels and kitchen supplies. Close to places to eat, close to Hollerwood(which for us was great) and close to Kroger to stock up the kitchen. We plan to stay here every year for our Hollerwood weekend.

Family get away
This was not our first time to RRG and probably not our last but this house was amazing. Not to far from any of the hiking trails and worked out great for our family and pets, we would recommend it to anyone.

Nice stay. Owners very pleasant to work with. Lots of room for a group. Lovely view. Well stocked kitchen. House and hot tub were heated up for us when we arrived. Appreciated the well stocked Keurig. Driveway a little tricky. Not much of a fire pit. Basement is cool. Water pressure low. Non working jacuzzi upstairs. But you can’t have it all at this affordable price, availability and place that allows pets. Overall a well worth family vacation.

Wonderful getaway..hikers delight
This is a wonderful place to stay we had 8 people all adults and there was enough room for everyone to be comfortable. The cabin is clean and stocked well for our stay. The hot tub and pool table was a bonus after a long day of hiking. Definitely recommend this place for a long or short stay you won't be disappointed. You will find plenty to do from hiking, swimming, kayaking or just taking a quick trip to a Bourbon distillery to try the local flavors. The owner was fabulous with directions and any help with information we needed about the area. Don't be on the fence best house around.

Great Trip
My friends and I have done a memorial day trip every year since graduating from high school. We hop around every year trying different locations, this was the first time we thought, wow we should do this again. the cabin is great, well kept and very welcoming. The owner is phenomenal very easy to work with and truly cares about the people who rent and stay in the cabin. I do warn people the driveway is tight, I drive an f150 and could not make the turn in, I had to back it in. But other than that it was an awesome place.

Property was perfect for our hiking group of eight. Conveniently located near hiking trails. Comfortable property with plenty of room for us to gather as a group or to retreat individually for solace. Host was exceptional at communicating--prior to, during, and following our stay. It was very large, which was the most important part. It needed a lot of work, but it was still a pleasant stay. The large tub in the master bedroom was not functional but it had not been advertised. The floor on the middle level vibrated from the furnace. The bottom floor was very cold and the top floor was very hot. There was no stopper for the bathtubs on the middle and top floors, which is problematic for families with kids. The light above the stove needs to be replaced. The fire pit was disappointing but there’s not much the owners could do about that due to the shape of the property. It was easy to find and not too far up the hillside so the drive wasn’t too bad.

Great cabin for large families!
Lots of space and comfortable beds. The owner was very informative and responsive. We felt like we were up in the mountains! There is a steep hill to go up to enter the driveway but was very doable. Great time!

Owner bent over backwards to help. He was totally accessible in case there were any problems, which there weren't. The driveway was a bit hairy, but I did not have 4 wheel drive and I made it just fine. Close to Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. There are 3 floors, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, plus plenty of couches to sleep on. The pool table and jacuzzi were added enjoyment. I would definitely go again.

Thanksgiving Reunion
We had a wonderful stay for the Thanksgiving holiday. The kitchen was fully equipped for our big meal. There was plenty of space for our family of 7 (+ 2 dogs) to spread out throughout the day & sleep comfortably at night. Our host was very attentive to any inquiries we had. I highly recommend this rustic cabin in the woods.

Lovely Cabin
After our first cabin rental fell through at the last minute, we were lucky enough to find this property for our family vacation. A lovely log cabin with a nice view, comfortable beds and a kitchen where we were able to prepare our own meals. We hiked all over Red River Gorge during our stay and the cabin was nice and close to the park. The owner kept in touch during our stay and was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Such a fun time!
We had our family come and stay with us here and they had a great time between playing pool and getting in the hot tub and playing cards til early in the morning. They’ve all told me it was the most fun they’ve had in a while. I would definitely come back to this cabin. The owner Jim stayed in contact with me and was very helpful and ready to assist us if we had any questions or issues which we had none. Excellent hosts! Excellent place to stay!

Needs a good cleaning, especially under and behind furniture, and in the kitchen cabinets. Couch beds NEED replacement, as does the grill. The whirlpool tub was off limits, in need of repair.

Thank you for choosing my cabin in the woods for your outdoor adventure. I am an attentive host and take all suggestions with careful consideration. I appreciate you letting me know that I have dust under and behind my furniture. This problem has never before been brought to my attention before this. I'll alert my cleaning crew but will have to warn future guests that living areas will be the main focus when we have guests leaving and checking in the same day. I'm sorry you were displeased with the grill and couches. The grill has been recently replaced but is used frequently. It would make sense that things wear out more quickly with frequent use. I'll investigate how much wear and tear it has left at my earliest convenience. We have one futon but don't actually have any "couch beds," though they can be used for sleeping. I wish you would have let me know if you had found them uncomfortable or if you just did not like them in general. I have actually taken care to choose furnishings that would withstand the use by the occasional exuberant guest while aligning with the idea of what a cozy mountain cabin should possess. With regard to the whirlpool tub you mentioned, I want to clarify that you were discussing the indoor jetted tub upstairs and not the outdoor hot tub which is new and in good repair. Regarding the jetted tub, I regret that the sign that it was out of service was removed. My staff insists that it was there prior to your arrival but maybe they missed it. I don't know why someone would take it down. I wish I could take the tub out altogether but it would require removing the wall so I simply do not advertise it and post that it's out of order. My regrets to future guests but that's not likely to change. I hope I've addressed the concerns you wished to communicate to future guests. Most of my guests arrive anticipating having a wonderful time. Your communications prior to your arrival made me concerned that your party didn't have any expectations to enjoy yourselves so I'm pleased that you managed to have at least an average time. Thank you again for your constructive criticism.

Great Property
This cabin is situated within easy driving distance of hiking trails and recreational areas within the Daniel Boone National and State Forests. The cabin is well maintained and comfortable. As opposed to other cabins that we've rented, internet connectivity is excellent and trouble-free. For those who want to stream video, Roku and Direct TV are available. Our host, Jim, who is knowledgeable about the area, is a pleasure to deal with. He is friendly and more than willing to discuss area sights as well as cabin features.
