Deirdre was an impeccable host…always quick to respond, offered suggestions on where to hike, and even sent a link on an item we loved in the apartment. We walked downtown in just a few minutes to adorable shops and dining. Parking couldn’t be easier at the apartment, too.
Her place was better than expected- everything was thoughtfully designed with the guest in mind. Lots of towels, pillows, and accessories to make our stay memorable. We particularly enjoyed the old memorabilia!
We would recommend the property without hesitation.
We stayed here for the QCMM Harry Potter weekend and could not have asked for a better place to stay! It felt like we were walking into the Weasley’s guest house (& I say that in the best possible way). The eclectic styling of the VRBO was so well done and made it such a fun place to stay. It’s well stocked, clean and comfortable. Couldn’t ask for more. Highly recommended!
This was the perfect place to stay for a quick anniversary getaway weekend. The property is decorated so cute and there were so many charming details. We loved the Nespresso machine, fluffy robes and ambiance lighting. Even though it is just downstairs from the owners, it felt very private. You can hear people walking around upstairs, but only if it's completely quiet otherwise. I only noticed it in the morning when first waking up. We had a blast in Staunton and it was nice to be able to walk into town (as long as you don't mind hills!) We also went to St. Mary's falls which was an amazing hike 20 minutes away. We had a wonderful time and will definitely stay again in the future.
This apartment is just like Staunton -- charming with fun and interesting details everywhere. It's just as nice as the pictures and description make it look. I thought the bed was going to be too soft, then got the best night's sleep I've had while traveling.
I love relaxing and recharging with an afternoon cup of coffee. After our morning adventures and lunch, instead of going a coffee shop, we came home to the coffee station in the apartment. Rested and charged up with coffee treats, we were ready for more exploring, dinner, and live music.
It does earn its hideaway name by being around the corner and down and up stairs. I'm not so nimble and had no trouble. The reward is privacy and a deck sitting area where you can enjoy the mountain air. I'd stay and again and suspect it won't be easy to find an opening on the schedule, once folks discover the hideaway getaway.
Everything was fantastic! Deidre is such an exceptional host—she puts so much thought into every little detail of her home and it’s clear she takes great care of it. She and her family were so friendly and always responsive. One of the best stays I’ve had!
Hideaway is so cute! They thought of EVERYTHING! They got you covered from toiletries to local food recommendations (and family activities). Definitely worth come back to the east coast for.
Fantastic All the comforts of home and more. Clean and charming decorating thru the home. Coffee, tea, filtered water, I enjoyed my stay. Dierdre was a great host.
Queen City Hideaway is lovely, charming and chock full of things to spoil the heck out of guests. I will definitely be back, which will be for the good of all, because if I stay anywhere else I will probably be disappointed and irritable.
Wow. The Queen City Hideaway is a treat, once you get in. Immaculately clean, tasteful, creative, and so thoughtful. The bed was comfortable with lovely cotton linens. It is a beautiful curated experience, not just a place to stay. All of that said, I would not have chosen this location if I had seen the brick path and series of stairs/ steps that I would need to navigate with my luggage to access this remodeled basement. Clear photos of the pathway and stairs from the parking pad should be added to the listing. Lastly, if you are sensitive to wifi or emf, this unit has 4 different full signal overlapping wifi networks, and about 20 other wifi networks of various lesser intensity. If wifi affects your sleep, this may not be a good choice. Other than those two issues, it was amazing. I would not stay in this unit again, but I would love to see other options by the same hosts.
