About this property
Beautiful 3BR/2BA Rustic Townhome on the Mountain: Bus Route & Wifi
This beautiful 3Br/2Ba property sleeps up to 6 and is located on the mountain, approximately 1 mile from the base of Steamboat Springs ski area. The top two floors of this dual-family home boasts magnificent views of Mount Werner, Emerald Mountain, and Howelsen Hill, making this lodging option much more like a private residence than a vacation rental.
Our cabin-style home is very open and bright with nice views of the surrounding valley and mountains. With approximately 1600 sq. ft., the unit will help you to feel right at home after a hard day skiing and riding in Steamboat's wonderful recreational play land. With curated art from local artists, hardwood floors on the main level and carpeting on the second level, brand new windows throughout the whole house, and stainless steel appliances, the ambiance is cozy and the amenities are easy to use. There are 3 bedrooms, two upstairs and one on the main level. The living/entertainment space is open to the dining area and kitchen, making it easy to socialize while preparing meals or just hanging out in different locations. It is fully equipped with free wifi, smart TV's for accessing your apps, a complete kitchen, dining area, three flat screen televisions, DVD player, washer and dryer and all necessary linens. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, the other two bedrooms have queens, all three with pillow-top mattresses for maximum comfort. There is a huge deck the length of the house that provides wonderful sunshine and relaxing spots in the summer, and beautiful vistas in the winter. The unit also has parking space for up to 3 cars, and plenty of storage inside for skis and boots in the mud room. Located adjacent to the free shuttle, it is a short bus ride to the base of the mountain and The Silver Bullet Gondola.
*Please note: This house was not built with Air Conditioning (AC). We have it mentioned in several places, and want to cut down continued expectation confusion. In Steamboat, opening windows during the afternoons is generally enough to keep most homes temperate and comfortable. Unless staying at a resort, few stand-alone homes have AC and it is typically not necessary for this elevation and local weather patterns.
Steamboat Springs is known for fantastic skiing, hot mineral springs, and a lively Western atmosphere. Shopping, dining, and nightlife are year-round attractions. Winter offers snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and a mountain with more than 100 downhill trails and 20 lifts. Summer offers white-water rafting, championship golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Keith Foster, and more than a million acres of wilderness in Routt National Forest for hiking, horseback riding, biking, and fishing. Sailing, windsurfing, and water skiing are available at nearby Stagecoach Reservoir.

We spent 2 weeks at the home and enjoyed our time there and in Steamboat immensely. The house is in a great location, both distance wise to the mountain and also visually. We had beautiful views of the mountains and could see the gondola from one of the windows. We did not use the shuttle, instead drove and parked in the free lot at the mountain, but the shuttle is conveniently located. The house was clean and there was timely communication with the owners. All in all, a wonderful experience.
Super cozy and cute place with great views in an awesome location. The hosts were also super thoughtful with amenities and easy to communicate with. We had a great time.
We had a wonderful time at this property. It was the picture place for our family (5 adults, 2 kids) the location was amazing. Super close to the ski slopes and equally close to shopping and restaurants. The house was adorable and the views were breathtaking.
Great property and neighborhood. Easily accessible to the mountain and town. The porch is beautiful, the kitchen had all the items we needed, and the beds were very comfortable. Thank you for a great stay!
We came out for a ski trip, and the house was perfect! It was a great location with an easy drive to the resort. The host was very responsive to my messages, and they were even able to accommodate an early check in. We would definitely stay here again!
Quick 2 min drive to the slopes, clean apartment, and just as advertised! The owner went above and beyond for requests that we had…. We will stay here again!
Wonderful house in beautiful location with everything you could possibly want for a great vacation, including a wood burning fireplace, a very well-equipped kitchen, smart TV and washer/drier. Steamboat Springs has many great things to do outside. Lovely views and a desk whith a gas grill
This rustic house served our needs well for a recent ski trip. The house was clean and the location made accessing the mountain relatively easy. We very much enjoyed our stay here. A couple of things to note: there is a downstairs neighbor attached to the property, so it's worth being mindful of that. Also, the walk to the bus stop involves a bit of an uphill trek. Bit tiring after a day of skiing. Overall, a great option for a ski vacation.
Josh and Lacey are wonderful hosts. Everything was as promised. The property was clean and well appointed. The views are spectacular. Highly recommend.
Very comfortable accommodations for six of us. Cooked in a couple nights in the well appointed kitchen. Has everything you need. Clean, cozy house that is a 3 minute walk to the shuttle that runs about every 10-15 minutes during peak times (download the app). Easy drive into town for restaurants and shopping. Owners were very responsive and helpful with minor issues. Would stay again!
We enjoyed the location of the property, and the house layout was great. The kitchen is well supplied for cooking, the living area comfortable. The owners responded quickly and were very accommodating. Our only concern was that as skiers we were not able to put our boots on in the warm entryway as the tiles were too fragile. We felt that type of information should be in the description. Otherwise it was a fun place to stay.
We had an enjoyable stay at the cute house on the hill. Large and spacious for everyone to spread out. The bus stop is close but still a little hike, just more calories to burn after skiing. Don’t let other reviews deter you from staying here. It’s a little older, it creaks but that’s part of the charm. You wouldn’t even know people are living below, couldn’t hear a thing, met them outside and were very nice as well. Let’s face it, steamboat prices are INSANE, this is affordable and a good value for your money, after all most of our time was spent outdoors. I would stay here again.
We used this as overflow sleeping accommodations as we were staying with a larger group that was housed .9 of a mile a way. It served the purpose as a place to sleep with great location to the ski hill. The beds were comfortable, there was ample parking and it was conveniently located close to the ski hill. That really was all that we required. To be transparent, would say that the upstairs water in the bathroom took a long time to warm up and there was very little water pressure in the upstairs shower. Check in and out were super easy and the hosts were amazing, answering questions for a newby to the VRBO system within moments of my email. We would stay here again.
Pros: 5 adults stayed over Memorial Day weekend and we enjoyed spending time in the kitchen space and deck. Owners were very responsive and made the stay comfortable. Had plenty of cups, towels and other necessities for the weekend
Cons: There were dead flies around the bedroom window sills and some mold. King size bed is pretty worn in and dips in on each side. Brush to clean dishes also needs to be replaced. We would’ve liked additional comfy seating in the living room so we could all hang out in there vs the kitchen space
Overall a decent stay and we would rent again
Overall, we had a great time at this VRBO. The location was great and the place had a lot of character. The hosts were very nice and check-in/check-out was a breeze. No major issues throughout the stay.
That said, the air conditioning appears to have been installed post-construction and doesn’t feed into any of the bedrooms (or so it seemed at least). As a result, the bedrooms were quite warm (the floor fans they provided helped a bit but they didn’t cool off until the outside temp dropped enough). The cleanliness was also lacking. We have two young children that stayed with us and after picking one of them up and noticing their feet, we realized just how dirty the floors throughout the house were. They definitely don’t seem to have been cleaned anytime recently. There were also a number of dead flies and wasps all over.
Overall, I would recommend as long as you’re ok with the lacking cleanliness and no AC in the bedrooms.

Nice enough but a few hiccups
On arrival, we could not enter the property. The front door was damaged and broken. Obviously not a new problem since someone had tried to Jerry rig a handle to make the front door latch work properly. It took us several hours and a phone call to the property manager to get this figured out. Not what we wanted at the end of a long drive.
The other problem is that the unit is hot, especially upstairs. There is no air conditioning.
Otherwise we found the unit clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the amenities which have been placed in the kitchen, such as coffee, filters, dish soap, paper towels, etc. This was a very nice feature.
In conclusion we might rent this unit again, but we would probably try harder to find a different one before doing so.
I will say I really enjoyed staying in this home. I love steamboat and I try to spend a weekend every year here for my birthday in October. It is such an amazing time to see the fall colors change. I really loved waking up and having coffee on their spacious patio displaying the Yampa valley. We were even able to watch a hot air balloon. The location was exactly what I had hoped for. The kitchen was great - our group cooked almost all our meals and had (almost) everything we needed. I also liked the modern amenities such as the washer/drier/fridge/dish washer and TV's that we were able to watch Amazon Prime on with a guest log in. I was overall very satisfied with our stay. I loved the charm of this cabin.
I did ask for feedback from my group if they would like to stay again... and they were hesitant about a few things...
1. We did have flies in the house. We opened the windows and most of them left. ( It is the mountains and I have stayed in mountain homes that just have these kinds of things)
2. The shower pressure upstairs was not as good as the pressure downstairs. Even though we tried to keep the water inside the shower pan there was still a few drips of water into the kitchen downstairs.
3. The floors and doors are a bit creaky / squeaky (it is a vintage cabin - so I understand personally)
4. It was warm upstairs, and opening the windows using the fans made a big difference.
Thank you Josh & Lacey!
While I appreciate the true mountain cabin feel, the place does have a couple of things that could be improved upon.
The door keypad and doorframe do not function properly. Although we were able to get it to work, the keypad does not operate correctly. And while the door looks like a newer door, the door does not fit in the frame correctly and therefore does not close tightly letting a lot of cold air in.
The other primary issue is the heat. In our attempt to get the primary level warm, the upstairs bedrooms were stifling, and we were never really able to get the living area to a comfortable temperature. Also, the description includes a wood burning fireplace. What the description does not say is the fireplace is inoperable. I had visions of a nice fire while there, which would have helped warm the main space but this was not possible due to the nonworking fireplace. The description should be updated as it is misleading.
With all of that being said, we had a wonderful time, the views were spectacular, there were lots of towels and the property was well equipped with lots of towels and a bathrobe for each room. I would have to say though, my next time in Steamboat (which will be in September), I will look for another place to stay.

Great location, Okay stay
We rented this property for a few days this summer and the location was great - 5 minutes from downtown. We did have a few issues:
-The refrigerator was broken. We had groceries so had to run to the store to get coolers and ice. The owners did respond quickly and sent a small temporary refrigerator the next morning. This made us wonder if they have a property manager check the place before people arrive. If they did, they would have known the refrigerator was broken.
-It was very, very hot inside upon arrival. We were aware that there was no central air but as it was late July we would have expected that the property manager open windows to cool down the place before a guest arrived. It was almost unbearable to sleep upstairs that first night because of the heat.
-It wasn't very clean. There were crumbs on the counter and some dishes that had been put away still had food on them. Some towels were hanging on the back of doors and it was unclear if they were clean or dirty. Again, made us wonder if there was anyone checking the property before guests arrived.
-We all showered in the downstairs shower because the upstairs shower had little to no water pressure (couldn't rinse the soap out of your hair) and the design allows for water to leak onto the floor of the bathroom (even if you keep the curtain inside as directed). There was also no body soap.
-The townhome is actually a property on top of a trailer home. We were unaware that we would have downstairs neighbors.
We had a wonderful time staying here with our entire family. Great memories made with four generations! The pool was a favorite of our grandkids. We even saw three bears in the complex.
