New Zealand State Highway 43 is also known as the Forgotten World Highway. Built on colonial horse trails formed in the late 19th century, the highway is remote and mysterious. The highway spans 149 km between Stratford and Taumarunui. There are hardly any services along the highway, and no gas pumps, but the views along the road as it climbs up and down three different mountain saddles are amazing!

This motel offered one of the best experience to our short stay. The two-bedroom studio is pretty roomy, especially the bathroom. The room and surroundings were really well-maintained and staff members were super friendly

The room was very well laid out and well supplied. One issue that needs to be addressed though is that the shower curtain is way too short.
