Quiet, Private, Waterfront - Luxury on 125 Ft. of Suttons Bay

White Fence of Suttons Bay is a truly unique vacation property. The property is a compilation of restored circa 1900 farm buildings just one block south of one of the most quaint villages in the Upper Midwest. The Village of Suttons Bay has deluxe shopping, art galleries and excellent restaurants abound. White Fence of Suttons Bay is within walking distance of it all and centrally located for touring all of scenic Leelanau County and its multitude of wineries, fine restaurants, charming villages and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park.

White Fence is a small and quiet property which has been meticulously renovated. The guest suite is artfully done with privacy, quiet and magnificent views of the bay kept in mind. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with seating areas throughout including private decks on the beach. Night star gazing is memorable. Although we love pets and children, the carriage house suites is not designed for either.

Directly across the street from White Fence is a gourmet grocery store which specializes in local produce and houses an extensive wine selection where the sommelier can describe to you the award-winning local wines. There is an outdoor kitchen area at White Fence with a charcoal grill should you decide to cook and hot plate for sautéing and boiling.

Also directly across the street, is the Leelanau Trail, an extensive biking, walking and running trail. It offers miles of scenic enjoyment. In the winter months, the Trail is groomed for cross country skiing.
White Fence was originally opened for business on July 4th, 2010. The new owners are permanent residents of Suttons Bay and our aim is to maintain the beauty and tranquility that has been pleasing guests since the beginning.

We chose the property originally for the proximity to the bike trail. The bike ride was great and the carriage house was conveniently located near restaurants and the grocery. The view of the lake was beautiful!

Property owners were wonderful! What a great stay we had. We loved how this carriage house was decorated. It was very comfortable and cozy. This is a perfect place for two people. The location is excellent. We could walk to the market or a restaurant across the street, or take a very short walk into town. The beach is right in front of the cottage with clear water and beautiful sand and there are decks as well, for those who don’t like sandy feet. It was delightful!

Ideal Location

We could have titled this in a number of ways but you can’t beat this location that has a private beach and proximity to downtown Suttons Bay. We stayed in mid-May and it was very quiet and traffic was light. No problem getting into restaurants.

Great place to stay!

We liked how close this location was to our own private beach, bike trail, shopping and restaurants. We kayaked and biked everyday and took short trips to wineries. We had a great time!

Excellent quality lodging on Sutton‘s Bay

spacious, high-quality designed lodging, that includes wonderful artwork. Great access to a beautiful beach area right on the water. The only downside was the properties exterior needs cleaning and painting.Another bonus was a great grocery store right across the street. The property backs up to a major highway, but the noise was minimal inside.

Incredible Lakeside View

Thank you for a delightful stay in this comfortable & cosy carriage house. We stayed here to climb & hike the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. A perfect location for exploring, as at every turn there was a hiking trail, lake, wineries & restaurants. So peaceful drinking our morning coffee & enjoying the lake view. We made so many incredible memories here thanks to our wonderful host’s thoughtfulness, easy communication & accuracy of listing. Check in & out process was simple. Our experience was 10/10.

Perfect Location and bonus sunrise views

Clean, cozy spot to get away. Hosts are responsive and helpful. I would definitely take their suggestion #14 on their welcome letter to the hiking trail and all the food suggestions are on par (with many walkable from cottage). This may turn into a yearly destination for us.

My husband booked the carriage house as part of our 50th anniversary celebration. We loved it. The location, view and design of the cottage made for a perfect weekend. I hope to be back for our 51st year-if not sooner.

This property is beautiful. The location is perfect!! Town is a short walk away but we didn’t want to leave the water!! Would definitely recommend. Owner is very responsive and offered an earlier check in for us even without us asking :)

Cute place in a fantastic location

The Carriage House at White Fence is a charming place for a couple visiting Suttons Bay. My wife and I stayed here several years ago with the prior owners and stayed again recently. It was just as cozy as we remembered and is in a perfect location to explore all that the Leelanau peninsula has to offer. We spent a day making a loop from Suttons Bay to Glen Arbor and back through Leland before returning. Lots of charming wineries and shops to explore and the view of the bay from the house can't be beat. When we next find ourselves in the area we will definitely look to stay here again.

A lovely cottage on the bay, easy walk into town.

Everything was very nice and as described in the listing. The main house associated with this guest house was vacant during our stay so we had use of their section of the beach. A public park and beach is just 100 yds or so to the south if you’re looking for a swimming beach and playground equipment. We enjoy walking and the street along the shore that starts south of the cottage at the park, continues for a couple miles out onto the peninsula forming the south shore of Suttons Bay. A nice walk. This location provides quick access to all the main cities of the peninsula and we took full advantage of that fact, visiting Leeland, Glen Arbor, Point Oneida historic district and Traverse City. Would love to do again.
