There is Potrero for Relaxation, Flamingo and Tamarindo for People Watching and Shopping, Penca and Prieta for Seclusion, Conchal for getting Back to Nature and Playa Grande for Costa Rica's best surfing.

The property was fantastic! Had every item you would need for a wonderful stay. The pool was perfect during the afternoons when the beach was too hot. All the restaurants you would need and markets walking distance.

Casa Columbine was fantastic! The inside and outside spaces were updated, comfortable, clean, and cared for well. The backyard was an oasis with the pool and manicured gardens. We even saw monkeys, iguanas, and unique birds from the back patio. The owners stocked everything to cook excellent meals (cookware, spices, etc.), spend hours at the beach (chairs, coolers, towels, and toys), or simply relax in their expansive home. Having a full size washer and dryer allowed us to pack light for the trip. Check in and out were seamless with clear directions from the property managers and the owner. The house is close to the beach, restaurants, and many outdoor adventures, but some days we couldn’t tear ourselves away from the refreshing pool and garden. We would rate Mike’s wonderful property more than five stars if we could, and are already planning a return trip for next year. If you are looking for a clean, safe, well-appointed, beautiful home with a private pool near to everything in Playa Potrero, book Casa Columbine now.

Great home

Great location and very well equipped and comfortable home. Wish we were staying longer. Our only negative was that we assumed that when the listing said “oceanfront” that it was right on the ocean. Only one block from the ocean but with the buildings in front of the house you couldn’t even see the water.

We love it here!

This was our fourth stay at Casa Columbine. We feel very comfortable here and have everything we need. The new couch is great! We love the private yard and pool and used it every day. We were a bit surprised to find that the vacant lot on one side that had tree removal happening last year was now a road going past the house. There's a bit more traffic and noise due to that, although the yard is fenced and has many bushes and foliage so it's screened pretty well. Once again, Tropical Homes, the management company, was very responsive with helping with arrangements and a few minor issues that came up. Hope to be back yet again!

Casa columbine family trip

We stayed here for 10 days with 3 children. It was awesome. Great location, easy check in, very responsive owner when we had questions. There is so much to do here and the locals are really friendly and appreciative of the visitors from other countries. Would definitely visit this area again. Tropical homes concierge was awesome to work with as well!

Our experience was excellent. The property was wonderfully maintained and the location is exceptional. Development around the home made it a little noisy during the day however escaping to the surrounding beaches was quick and easy. I would definitely stay here again.

Great property in a fantastic location. Very close walk to what amounted to our own private beach. Pool in the backyard was great to have. Property management company was great to work with, even helping us find a custom birthday cake for our son. Cannot recommend this property enough. If it's available, book it!

Perfect Getaway Home for our Family Vacation

We all loved staying at Casa Columbine. Everything was perfect! Great communication throughout. The house had everything we needed and was not only conveniently located but also tucked away in a quiet location near the beach. We could not have asked for more yet, as a pleasant surprise, concierge services were available to help arrange all of our activities and excursions, as well as chef-cooked meals at the home and a golf cart for our local travel needs. Tere, our concierge, was amazing! We would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend Casa Columbine for your next stay in Costa Rica!

Great house.

House was very nice and clean. Home was comfortable with ac and ceiling fans even on the outside patio. Pool was wonderful. Used that on a daily basis. No issues with anything with the home. Beach at the home is a very short walk. We did go to flamingo beach which is a short drive. You do need a car and a 4 wheel drive is best to get to the other local beaches. Some beach roads are not passable without a 4 wheel drive car.

Overall a great stay and great house. A perfect location, a short walk to a beautiful beach. We hit some heavy traffic on the way in and had to pay a $20 late check-in fee. We arrived around 7pm. Check-in included someone meeting you at the house and walking you through the property. After a long day of traveling we were ready to settle in immediately. We would have preferred a lockbox to check-in or another method. We did not feel like we needed a tour of the house and the $20 fee was annoying but other than that a really great place where we had an absolute blast.

Fabulous two weeks at Casa Columbine

For the second year in a row we stayed (a couple) at Mike Malone’s Casa Columbine. Great privacy with a very private pool and super kitchen. The beach is a 5 minute walk, and since there are no resorts or high rises on this beach, you pretty much have it all to yourself. Yoga facility a 10 minute walk down the beach with multiple daily classes for as little as $10 per class. The bay is protected from large waves and supports distance swims. The property managers are responsive and very accommodating. We hope to be back again!

My husband and I had a great time and so loved Casa Columbine. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We loved being on the back deck of the house. Our favorite thing though was the private pool! We swam in it every day! We love the area and it's an easy walk to the beach and several restaurants in the area. Michelle was who we were in contact with and she was great! She was there to meet us and introduce us to the house and was always available if we had questions or concerns. Thank you to everyone!!!!

This is what vacations are all about!

We had a great vacation! The house is modern and has all the comforts of home in a paradise like location. One block from playa Potrero where you will see some of the best sunsets ever, a short driving distance from top 10 beaches in CR - Dante/Dantita, Penca, Flamingo. A short trip to Tamarindo for surfing. Plus you can walk on the beach to several restaurant options in Potrero. The pool in the back is so relaxing and the kayak was a very nice surprise and we put it to good use to explore Potrero. You will want to stay forever!! Mike - if you decide to sell in a few years, let us know! :-)

A Piece of Paradise

It has been over 20 years since I've been to Costa Rica and it is exactly how I remembered. The people and food are amazing! And this house was the perfect location. Walking distance to a fairly private beach, this home has everything you need. From a great sound system to a beautiful pool, we didn't want for anything. I highly recommend using Miguel for his private chef service. He and Anna made us several delicious meals during our stay with the freshest food you can imagine. And the concierge service took great care of us during our stay making sure we had everything we needed. I will not be waiting another 20 years to come back.

Casa Columbine an Oasis in Potrero Costa Rica

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, comfortable home. Perfectly set up for 2 couples or a family. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need! Things like dish detergent, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, toilet paper all provided. Lots of pool toys, folding chairs and beach towels for use. Very good a.c in all areas. A must with temperatures in the high 30’s while we were there. Very good communication with our concierge Michelle. All questions answered and her introductory tour covered everything. The extensive written suggestions and “things to know” is much appreciated. Great access to all the necessary shops are close by and a great selection of good restaurants nearby. The pool and outdoor shaded area (with fans)

Third Time Back at Casa Columbine!

This was our third stay at Casa Columbine so obviously we love it and feel very comfortable here! This time our son was able to join us and was well accommodated in the second bedroom. He really loved it, too. Our two daughters and families with young children also joined us in Costa Rica, staying at another house nearby (also managed by Tropical Homes, a real plus) and they were able to enjoy the pool a couple of times as well. Overall, this is the perfect house for us- very private yard, lovely pool, a short walk to the beach or to restaurants nearby. We rented a golf cart for our stay and that was just right for us. The house had everything we needed to relax and enjoy our stay. Michelle from Tropical Homes helped us set up airport transportation, golf carts, outings, and was generally helpful with various recommendations. Another wonderful trip and we hope to be back again in the future!

Return to Paradise

This is our second time staying at Casa Columbine (but our 6th time visiting Playa Potrero) and we fell in love with it all over again. It is the absolute perfect base and a comfy and relaxing vacation home. The garden, lanai and private pool are really the best part, but the rest of the home is so comfortable, well-stocked, nicely decorated and just so easy to live in. It is perfectly located for the beach (literally just steps away) and the wonderful little restaurants in Potrero (including the stellar new Indian spot!). Michelle, the concierge from the property management company was incredibly helpful and stayed in touch throughout our 2 weeks helping with transportation to/from the airport, getting our initial groceries stocked, recommending restaurants and arranging a dinner with a private chef at our home (highlight of the trip), We adore Potrero and the small beach town vibe (shhh...don't tell too many other people about it, it's our little secret!) and we can't wait to return to Casa Columbine again next year!
