This smartly furnished, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house is a 2 minute walk to Penca Beach - one of Guanacaste’s most beautiful white sand beaches. Prieta Beach can be accessed by way of a short trail on the north end of Penca Beach. Snorkel, skimboard, jog, swim, beachcomb, wade in tidepools or simply sunbathe and enjoy the gorgeous scenery by day, watch a different spectacular sunset every evening and stargaze by night. The sound of the surf will lull you sleep in this home built on stilts, nestled in the greenbelt tree canopy - A great place to relax with window seats to view monkeys, birds and iguanas or take a siesta. If you want to experience the real Costa Rica look no further. This is "Pura Vida" defined! Get to know the local culture in Potrero, where you can practice your Spanish on our friendly "Tico" neighbors on your walk to the beach. Our family stayed at this house for two weeks and loved everything about it. The space was exactly what we needed, the proximity to Penca beach was perfect and getting to know Melissa and Richard was so special. This is truly a wonderful house and host. We will certainly be back!

Everything was perfect. Meliisa was a gracious & accommodating host. She helped arrange airport transfer & was quick to communicate during my stay. Coffee on the back porch each morning was delightful. The beach was absolutely stunning & never crowded. The sunsets took my breath away. I look forward to returning soon.

This was our second stay and once again it surpassed all our expectations! The house is a wonderful space with excellent amenities. The proximity to Penca Beach is unbelievable and we were able to enjoy nightly sunsets. The area restaurants are great. The property is a perfect location to enjoy many wonderful beaches and communities within a short drive. The hosts are gracious and were wonderful throughout our stay. The level of care and detail made us feel at home. They both have great ideas for day trips and fantastic recommendations for restaurants. We would highly recommend this property! Thank-you for such a great stay, looking forward to being back again!

Fantastic beach house

The location is amazing, only 1 minute walk from a beautiful (swimming) beach. The house is well equipped and very spacious. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fun at Playa Penca

We enjoyed our stay at this property a short walk from the beach, a few restaurants, and a small grocery store. Much more a short drive away without the hustle and bustle. Hosts Melissa and Richard were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful Family Vacation

We had an incredible time during our stay! We had everything we needed and the proximity to the beach was fantastic. Our hosts were extremely helpful when we had a questions. The property was well maintained, and loved the back screened in porch. We would love to come back!

Perfect Beach Getaway!

Spent a week at this clean, well decorated and comfortable beach house within walking minutes to Playa Penca and Playa Prieta. Melissa and Richard were fantastic hosts and were truly a pleasure to chat with and made us feel very much at home during our stay. I am already missing our mornings drinking coffee on the front porch admiring their beautiful landscaping while planning our daily adventures. Without question we will definitely be back!

Great house and great host

Great house in a wonderful location. Located a little away from the tourist areas it offers an amazing local feel. The beach is a short walk away and is quiet, more picturesque, and with far fewer people than other beaches in the area. The food at the local restaurants is amazing, the people are phenomenal, and the host is awesome! Book it, but dont tell too many people!

Lovely house by the sea

Amazing stay

We are very happy with our stay at Penca Beach guesthouse! Hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable at their property. Lots of useful tips about local shops, restaurants and activities. After exploring the other beach towns we were so glad we chose Potrero, it was more authentic and not so busy yet had everything we were looking for - nice beach, farmers markets, decent local and international restaurants. We Want To Go Back!!!

We stayed for 7 days with our family of 5. The house was perfect with 3 young kids. The beach a few steps away was our favorite out of all the ones we visited in the area. The sunsets were spectacular. We woke up one morning seeing 18 howler monkeys climb through the trees at sunrise and that is something we will never forget! The location cannot be beat, and the shops and restaurants a few steps away make grabbing a meal a breeze. It was a magical and peaceful stay!

Wonderful experience!

Our family of 4 stayed here for 10 days in August. We loved the property and its close proximity to a beautiful and quiet beach, pretty towns, and a wide range of activities. Melissa and Richard were very warm and welcoming and they went above and beyond with great recommendations and to ensure we had all we needed during our stay. We hope to return one day! And we would highly recommend this as a great home base for exploring Costa Rica.

One of our favourite places

We spent three weeks here this year, after spending about 10 days last year. We were so glad we went back as this is truly one of our favourite spots in the world, just a short walk to beautiful and quiet beaches, and surrounded by trees and wildlife including howler monkeys. We love being a little off the beaten track but still within walking distance of great restaurants and shops, and a short drive from bigger towns like Flamingo and Tamarindo. Melissa and Richard are perfect hosts.

I do not think, there are more hospitable host! Melissa went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was just the right size for my wife and I and two teenaged boys. The location is great. I would and hopefully will, stay here again.

Outstanding Home Away From Home in Potrero

Melissa and Richard were incredible hosts and every part of this property is spectacular. The home itself is beautiful and cared for very well. The sunroom was our favourite space to spend time in the mornings and evenings, listening to the birds and howler monkeys. The proximity to the beach is remarkable. The local community offers a number of great restaurants and gelato which is a short walk from the house. Thank you for providing a great stay, we will definitely be back on our next visit to Costa Rica!

Penca/Portrero

This property is perfect for so many! Birdwatchers, beach lovers, get away from super touristy spots with great local restaurants but close enough to drive to more “popular spots.” Casa Canciones is beautifully maintained, spotless inside and located on an amazing property where we saw so many incredible birds,iguanas and a couple monkeys from the screened in porch! All just about a block from the beach. We highly recommend this home. The owners are close by and so responsive.

Perfect, stress-free retreat!

The location is perfect-easy walk to Playas Penca, Potrero and Prieta. The home is charming and elegant but very comfortable. We had everything we needed. Well equipped to cook in, but also within walking distance of restaurants, sodas and groceries. Melissa and Richard were perfect hosts - non-intrusive yet always available. Definitely rated 11 out of 10!

Great place close to a beautiful beach!

Melissa and Richard were great hosts, answering questions throughout our stay. Great location… a short walk to a beautiful beach! We stayed 14 nights. The house is very comfortable and clean with a beautiful screened-in room where we enjoyed our morning tea & Baileys. We especially enjoyed listening to the howler monkeys and the variety of birds. We actually got to see some monkeys one morning. The house is equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed living in the community of Potrero with 4 restaurants within walking distance and a selection of grocery stores. You must try the gelato place. We would highly recommend this place!
