"Our family of five adults had a marvelous stay at Quinta do Sardão. Between the spacious farm house, the extensive orchard, the inviting patio with large table and ample seating, this place offered much needed respite from the hustle and bustle of life. Note that the pool is on the owner’s property across the driveway but we had access to it always. Speaking of the owner - he is a gem of a host. He surprised us daily with fresh apples from the orchard, baked goods from a local cafe, new pillows for our chairs outdoors, and a rug to make the patio more comfortable. His attentiveness to our comfort was always subtle, unobtrusive and well-received, and he was just so kind and accommodating. The house is in a rural area but a grocery store, bakery/cafe, and a butcher are within walking distance (if you don’t mind walking along a busy street for a few hundred meters); just use Google Maps :)If you have a car, Porto and several beaches are within a 20 to 30-minute drive. We did not explore the more mountainous areas to the east but understand that would be a lovely option as well.Bonus: we were able to bring our dog who quickly made friends with the owner’s dog. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and enjoyed the respite this place offered as well as the stimulating excursions to area attractions. Thank you for everything, Jaime. Até a próxima!"

"The host was extremely helpful when we needed help and even made a call for us to help with train ticket issues since we do not speak Portuguese well enough. He also sent maps on how to get to a few places. Again very convenient and helpful. I will say it is a little bit of a drive to get to a grocery store. There were some ants and flies but you are next to a farmer’s field and in the countryside so it is normal and to be expected. I would definitely return there and recommend it if you find yourself needing a place in that area."

"The place is a brand new remodel, pristinely clean with a fully equipped kitchen, even a washing machine. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large livingroom.Spacious and bright with great views of the sunset. For awareness : a) if you have any mobility issues - there are 20 interior steps b) if you are renting a car, get something really compact. The entrance to the garage is from a steep, narrow cobblestone street that often had other cars parked on the side of it, making maneuvering challenging. In hindsight, I would have preferred to take advantage of the excellent metro system that can take you just about everywhere. The nearest stop is a 5min walk. Driving in Portugal is a bit of an adrenaline sport. Excellent experience overall."
