Cosy water view cabin in amongst the pristene wilderness of Central Highlands
2/10 Terrible
"This was a very disappointing stay and I would not book again. (1) Although an address was provided, there is no GPS reception in the area and there is no clear property number visible at street level of the tin shack compound. If I had arrived in the dark, I would not have been able to find it. (2) The wood-fired heater is the only heating, and guests are not permitted to use an electric blanket, electric heater, or hair dryer. (3) There are no instructions for using the wood-fired heater safely and effectively. (4) The living area needs to be very warm for heat to reach the main bedroom, and once the fire burns down overnight the property becomes cold again. Even on a mild night (around 10C) it was uncomfortable. (5) The toilet water pump is extremely loud and would likely wake others at night. (6) The cleaning expectations were excessive: guests are asked to not only wash dishes, but also dry and put away dishes, with a warning of extra charges beyond the 100 cleaning fee if the place is not left “tidy”. (6) Yet, there were crumbs under the dining table and egg remnants on a plate in the cupboard. (7) The listing photos show the only nice bits of what is otherwise an old tin and fibro shack, surrounded by more old tin shacks. At roughly 300 a night, including the cleaning fee, it is abysmally overpriced for what is provided. I would not recommend this property, especially for anyone staying in cooler weather or arriving after dark."
"Excellent pub accom. Really comfy room, bed and bathroom. Bonus was a guests lounge and kitchen which was well supplied with coffee, tea, chi etc. And a light brekkie (wheetbix etc). This is a value for money pub, would highly recommend it."
"A truly memorable experience where Ros and Richard make u feel most welcome. The golf course, rooms, history (golf museum), food and wine 1st rate. Do yourself a favour - must see,/do in Tassie!"
"The house was cold but after using the fire, it warmed up quickly and retained the warmth. The property had not been cleaned well and some supplies for the fire were unavailable. Previous guests had used all matches and fire starters but after talking to the owner, this was sorted out very quickly and the owners very very attentive to other issues as they arose.
A deep clean was scheduled on our leaving the property, and the owner allowed us to check out late afternoon as a good will gesture.
We would happily stay again. "
