Welcome in Khinalug (Xinaliq), one of the highest (2,335 m) and most remote mountain villages in the Caucasus. The famous village, perched on a hillside, has a local population of just over 2,000 and the villagers have their own language (called Ketsh). Archaeologists have found traces of a settlement that goes back more than 2,000 years, but the remains that can be seen today date back to between the 17th and 19th centuries. The mountains on the background are called the “golden mountains” (because of their colour) and form the border with Dagestan (Russia). #Azerbaijan #ReDiscover #Adventure
