Things to do in Valparaíso

Nestled in a valley framed by dramatic Andean peaks that reach over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters) in height is Ski Portillo. This is one of the oldest ski areas in South America. Around 25 feet (7.6 meters) of snow falls on the slopes of Ski Portillo every season, which creates skiable terrain from July to September. Acapulco Beach borders the cool water of the Pacific Ocean. Its proximity to Viña del Mar’s city center makes it popular with locals and tourists alike. Found on the lower slopes of the Terevaka Volcano, the Rano Raraku volcanic crater is where Easter Islanders quarried rock to make their world-famous moai head statues.
