Perfect Fall Getaway

Great family friendly location. We really enjoyed the cozy feeling of the home and furnishings. The house has a neat layout that added to the unique characteristics. Loved the view of the River from the living room. The fire pit location was a bonus! Cannot wait to come back!

Great location for skiing

Just down the road from Crystal, so it was super convenient going back and forth for lunch and dinner breaks. Furniture was comfortable for relaxing after skiing and the kitchen had what we needed. The house has charm and character, and we would certainly stay here again.

Nice place for our group. Comfortable and clean. Neat house and easy drive to area attractions. A little noisy sometimes being close to a well traveled road but it wasn't all that noticeable. Good value compared to many other properties we considered.

Perfect for Sleeping Bear vacation or Crystal Mountain ski trip

Great location near Crystal Mountain ski resort, and a short drive to everything the Sleeping Bear area has to offer. Approximately equidistant from Traverse City, Manistee, and Cadillac. Betsie River is in the backyard, a firepit for s'mores, and great night sky views from the deck. Lots of comfortable seating in the living room, kitchen includes plenty of pots and pans. We would stay here again.

Beautiful home Great location!

4 of us friends stayed here 4 nights for a ski trip in January. The home was so nicely decorated and had plenty of room! The large kitchen had all the pans and utensils we needed. The living room was cozy, large and had enough seating for a big group. The fireplace was beautiful, although the wood was snow covered and wet, they had 3 hour logs all ready to burn. The Betsie River is right out the door and so pretty. Crystal Mt is a mile away, so we downhill skied, cross country skied, and enjoyed the pool and hottub over there. We snowshoed in the park/campground next door. We can’t wait to stay here when it’s warmer and can kayak the river and bike/hike the nearby trails.

Wonderful retreat

Property was as advertised. It was very clean and well appointed. Easy to find though its not close to any large city. Once we figured out that we needed to put the access code in rather quickly instead of slow and deliberately we had no issues getting in. The only other small issue we had was the wifi info we recieved via notification was not correct, but we found it on the modem and had no issues after that. The only other suggestion would be a small packet pointing out local stores or restaurants, sites of interest and activities. Overall both my guest and i had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the house and the beautiful river view immensely.

It’s clear someone took a lot of time to restore this older home. The inside was very clean and comfortable. We wish there was a book with some details on the house as some things weren’t as straightforward (e.g. no check out instructions). We enjoyed the location of this house from town and proximity to other cities (~35 minutes from Traverse City). The outside of the property needed a little TLC and didn’t seem like it received much attention for our visit - paint was chipping on the back deck, the trash can seemed like it had been sitting near the roadway for a while, there was a deceased animal in the middle of the driveway that we had to dispose of that had been sitting there a while, the grill wasn’t clean and had been sitting without a cover, and the grass was really long/hadn’t been cut in a while. Overall, it was a comfortable stay for our party of 4 and we would return if ever in the area again.

Horrible management company, great property

Warning: the property is a gem, but Vacasa, the management company, is AWFUL. First, they sent us the wrong Wi-Fi password. After leaving a message with the local Vacasa manager (never got a response) and texting with Vacasa, we finally figured it out ourselves--it was on the router. Then, it got gradually hotter as we stayed there, and we finally figured out the AC was not working. Called the local manager, who never called me back. It was finally fixed our last day--no one called to tell us that someone was coming to fix it. Communication was horrible. And then they offered us a mere $20 a day refund for AC not working, which is what they offer if the TV doesn't work. I suggest the owners find a new management company, because this one does not treat their customers well at all, and the local person is a ghost. The property itself is gorgeous, and the house is so well-equipped. My rating would have been a 5 star, if Vacasa hadn't ruined the experience.

Overall, a good place to stay with a few quirks that we ran into. First, the good. The location is great with Crystal Mountain just down the road and Frankfort only 20 minutes away. We loved being next to the river! Our boys found bugs and little fish to catch and it wasn't too deep near the dock. Yes, it is next to a campground and road but overall was pretty quiet the weekend we were there. The firepit is a nice touch too.Now the not so great, the bedroom with two twin beds was unusable as there was a strong odor in that room. Vacasa offered to have someone come out but I don't want to deal with that on my vacation so we just slept elsewhere. Also, the internet and TV worked when it wanted to and the A/C was a bit of a mystery. It's good to "unplug" on vacation but those things should work if it is listed as an amenity. We were away from the cabin most days so probably would have casued more disruption if we had stayed more in the cabin. Fix those issues and we would be back.

Beware - Vacasa is a rental co.

Due to extreme Michigan weather, ice, wind, no electricity, we were unable to travel to our VRBO site. Called 800 number - English is second language. No help. Would be better to deal with personal owner than large rental company who uses VRBO for advertising and is unresponsive.

Great Potential

We pulled up to an overflowing trash can that had been raided by racoons, the furnace required service during our stay, and I'm not quite sure how this is listed to sleep 8. Otherwise, the view of the river is awesome, the Vacasa representatives were able to help us through a few issues, and the interior of the house was nice. With a few of the kinks worked out this was an enjoyable stay.

Always a winner

This property is always clean and appealing. It’s always nice sitting up on the hill watching the fish swim upstream and around the bend. Also a good fishing point just off the end of the stairs. We will return for many years to come.

Cute Farmhouse on the Betsie

8 of us enjoyed the weekend at this cozy home on the river. The house provided everything we needed for our stay and was very clean. The property does border a campground and is near the road, which neither were super noisy but it wasn't as quiet and secluded as we hoped. The beautiful view with a fire pit that sits on top of the river was the best part.

Pleasant home in beautiful location

The house was very clean and tidy, and in a quiet location. There are lots of attractions nearby (within 20 min drive). All the appliances were new-ish, and fully functional. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, enough for 8-10 people. There were plenty of knives, although they were not sharp enough, and I couldn't find a sharpener. The river runs right next to the house, with stairs down to it. Altogether a beautiful location, and a carefree stay.

Wonderful house close to Crystal Mountain

The property is just like all of the other reviews have stated. Very clean, well stocked kitchen, loft is amazing. My friends were staying at Betsy River Canoes and Campground and you can actually take a path right to them. It was a 5 minute walk to the center of the campground. I would highly recommend this location for a home base.
