COVID-19 has changed how we travel, but it hasn't dampened our desire to explore. Here are a few tips on how to handle the new challenges of travelling:

• Before you book a flight, see if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Stay informed with the latest updates by checking government and travel websites.
• When you go through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to briefly lower it to confirm your identity. Those who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the terminal.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position your pass on the reader and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on baggage. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
• To reduce handling during screening, put items such as your wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open your bag for inspection.
