"The property is very clean and cozy. Set back from the road and on a hill behind some trees it's very private and quiet. It is completely silent at night for a very restful sleep. The property is at the end of La Manche road which is a dead end road ending at the start of a great hiking path that leads to a very scenic area and suspension bridge. Breathtaking scenery. We arrived at about 1 am in pitch black and our GPS told us we arrived at our destination next to what appeared to be a driveway. After almost dumping the rental car into the lake and creeping about the other cabins on the road for some time we found the cabin.Advice for others looking to find this property in the dark... drive as far as you can to the end of the road. Then around and it's the 3rd driveway on the left.Thank you Jerry and Shirley for your prompt responses and suggestions on things to do in the area. We had a wonderful time on our first trip to Newfoundland."
"Noel’s home was spotless, extremely well stocked, beds comfy & the location is perfect for touring. The spice pantry & 2nd bathroom was a bonus for us 4 ladies. It felt like home away from home. There were games you could play, fishing poles if you wanted to take your chance at the pond in his backyard. Had a great time on O’Briens whale & seabird tour where we saw whales closeup, puffins & other sea birds. Had such a fun afternoon at Sullivans Songhouse where we were made to feel right at home. We drove down to St Vincent’s, saw caribou along the way, but were disappointed by the foggy day it turned out to be at st Vincent’s as we only saw 1 whale quite far out before the fog rolled in. In Trepasdy, the locals couldn’t be more helpful! We were told by the convenience store owners & patrons to go see the cannon monument on the other side of the causeway up a short lookout! Our intended 5 minute walkabout turned into a 2 hour relaxation on picnic tables provided & overlooking the stunning aqua coloured bay! Trepassy was a delight. The postal worker in the store suggested we eat at The Edge of the Avalon restaurant. Delish! So glad I only ordered 1 piece cod dinner, & we were made to feel as family. We stayed for lunch. A special thank you to Noel for being so available & helping us with our own personal tv stick. We send our gratitude for sharing your beautiful home with us Noel! We would love to come back & 110% recommend both the home & Noel himself as a host!"
"A beautiful property with kind, attentive hosts. The accommodations were beautiful and the food outstanding. I highly recommend this inn. I would definitely return if I traveled back to the area."
"First visit to Newfoundland. Ducky's place was very spacious. Bedrooms were good size and comfortable beds. Large laundry room on second floor next to bedrooms. Well supplied with detergent (pods). We had extra towels. Kitchen had tea, coffee, sugar etc. Lots of kitchen ware. Appliances in kitchen seemed pretty new and all functioning. Bathrooms recently renovated.
We were very pleased with the house. We would recommend this lovely place too anyone."
"My wife and I had such a wonderful four nights staying here at the end of June 2026! Very clean and comfortable with so many little conveniences. Very glad we checked out what was already provided before doing our groceries (at the super close supermarket).
Gordon was very easy to communicate with and helpful in every regard. A great host.
We were in the area to hike some of the nearby East Coast Trail segments: Beach, Tinker's Point, Spout, Mickeleen. We saw many, many whales from those paths! In retrospect, we should have made this a even longer part of our two weeks in Newfoundland."
