We arrived at the property around 8:00 p.m. expecting it to be clean and ready for our stay after driving more than four hours from Long Island. Instead, we found that the house had not been cleaned after the previous guests. The bathrooms and bedrooms were dirty, and the backyard and patio area had overflowing garbage bins that created a terrible smell.We immediately tried contacting the host. Although they responded to our text messages, they did not answer our phone calls. By the time they offered to send cleaners, it was already late at night, which was not a practical solution after such a long drive. We had expected to arrive, settle in, relax, and get some rest, but instead we were forced to search for a hotel at the last minute.To make matters worse, we arrived during a heat wave, were exhausted from traveling, and hadn't even had a chance to find dinner before dealing with this situation. What should have been a relaxing long weekend for two couples turned into a stressful and disappointing experience.This was, without question, the worst vacation rental experience we've ever had. A property should always be cleaned and prepared before guests arrive, and unfortunately, this rental failed to meet that most basic expectation.
