Conveniently located, a 6-minute walk from Takadanobaba Station, 3 minutes from Shinjuku Station, and 11 minutes from Shibuya.

The area in front of the station is Waseda-dori, which leads to Waseda University, and it is also a student district. Along Waseda-dori, there are many restaurants and used bookshops catering to students. There are also many vocational schools in the surrounding area. To the east of the Waseda Exit is a roundabout where taxis and Toei buses—including those bound for the Waseda University Main Gate—depart and arrive. On the south side of the roundabout is BIG BOX; on the east side is the FI Building, which houses Horindo Bookshop; and on the north side is the Inmon Building, which houses restaurants. To the west of the Waseda Exit, on the outer side of the JR Yamanote Line, is Sakae-dori, a district known for its bars.

Note that Nishi-Waseda Station on the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line is located about a 10-minute walk southeast of this station, but there is no through-service between the two stations.
