The Black Thistle a historical church in downtown Tonganoxie!

Historical church converted to a home located in downtown Tonganoxie. Just a short drive to Lawrence and KC. Home is setup for entertaining large families with an open-concept kitchen and living space, large dining room table, all the kitchen essentials, including an icemaker. Main bedroom has a cozy king bed, television, dresser and en-suite bathroom featuring a large walk-in shower, private toilet and double vanity. The open loft has a bunk bed with a full bed on bottom and a twin bed on top and its own television, great for kiddos! For additional sleeping the living room couch pulls out to a comfy queen bed. Off of the living room is another full bath with a walk-in shower. You won't have to take any dirty laundry home; we have a laundry room with a washer and dryer. This space is perfect for hosting your family for the holidays or just a quiet weekend stay. Don't forget the lovely patio space for grilling out!

Long Weekend in Tonganoxie

We enjoyed our stay at Black Thistle! It's a fun and inviting, unique stay in an old church. There was plenty of room for our group of three adults and three children. The town is cute and quaint with a few good dining options and two cute coffee shops. Close to the big city but just far enough to escape the hustle and bustle.

Family Gathering for Holidays

We had an amazing time at the house! Would 100% recommend if you have family gathering to spend time for any occasion especially the holidays! We made the best out of the open space playing games, cooking, and eating dinner!

Family Wedding

This location was wonderful for our family staying in town for a wedding in KC with a reception at Brunswick Ballroom. The living space is huge with a very nice master suite/bathroom and a lofted bedroom with the bunks. The owners did a great job with the mixing the historical feel with modern amenities. The location has easy access to surrounding areas. I would stay here again if I am ever back in the area.

Enchanting and fun!

I can’t say enough positive things about our stay at Black Thistle! We were in town for a wedding and everyone was in awe at the amount of great space we had and how clean everything was. I also loved how the furniture, bathrooms and decor were all recently renovated and modern. Fortunately we had pleasant weather during our stay and could enjoy many hours on the outdoor patio playing darts. Awesome location with the best coffee shop directly next door, a library across the street, and a restaurant/bar, gas station, and pharmacy all within a 5 minute walk. We will absolutely stay here again if we’re ever back in town!

Jayhawks and Chiefs Games

The Black Thistle was very clean and comfortable. The property looks just like the photos. The main gathering area is very large. The host replied to my questions very quickly. It is close to Lawrence and KC for any plans you may have there. If you need a place to stay in this area this is a great property.

Wedding Win!!

We can't rave enough about Black Thistle! It provided the perfect setting for both our rehearsal dinner and getting ready for the big day at Brunswick Ballroom, just down the street. The venue's ambiance was incredible, and we even took our wedding photos there – they turned out stunning! We absolutely loved the combination of the dark wood and black accents

St. Louis Family Stay

The property was amazing. Clean, great decor, luxurious and well-supplied. The host went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and answered all questions without delay. Very impressed with the experience and enjoyed our stay immensely. We will stay again if the opportunity arises. Highly recommend this location!
