With new restrictions and safety precautions to adhere to, travel looks a little different these days. Here are a few things to know before you fly off to Toshijima:

• Before locking in your flight, find out if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by reviewing official government websites.
• Requirements state you must wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. Be ready to adjust your mask for ID verification when asked by a TSA officer.
• To reduce the risk of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA employee.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on luggage. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to take it out of your bag for X-ray screening.
• Put any personal items (like your phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Food items often set off the alarm. Placing them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA agent to touch and inspect your belongings.
