🌿 Welcome to Skiaxtro, a 4-acre eco retreat created for guests who value simplicity, nature and inner rest. This listing concerns one private, spacious canvas tent, located within the wider Skiaxtro Cocoon Retreat. The farm is situated just 200 meters from the sea and 500 meters from the village of Marathopolis, offering a rare balance between peaceful seclusion and easy access to local life.

Skiaxtro is not a typical accommodation. It is a place designed for slowing down, grounding and reconnecting with the natural rhythm of the land. Days here unfold gently: waking up with birdsong, walking barefoot on the earth, swimming in the sea within minutes, resting in the shade of olive and fruit trees, and listening to the waves at night.

Guests stay in one private canvas tent, thoughtfully placed among the trees to preserve privacy and quiet. The tent accommodates two guests comfortably (additional guests may be hosted upon request) and includes its own outdoor sitting area for rest and contemplation. Other tents may be present on the farm, hosting a limited number of guests, so that the overall atmosphere remains calm and spacious.

The farm offers shared facilities designed for simplicity and ease: three bathrooms with sinks, toilets and hot showers, outdoor showers and sinks, a shaded dining area, handmade lounges, hammocks, board games and quiet corners for relaxation. A small stone house hosts a space for handmade creations and inspiration.

A highlight of the retreat is the reflexology path, gently winding through herb beds and natural garden areas, inviting guests to walk barefoot and reconnect with the body through touch with natural materials.

Skiaxtro functions as a cocoon retreat. At certain times, and always upon request, guests may choose to participate in additional experiences such as gentle yoga practices, massage sessions, or small creative and experiential workshops. These activities are optional and not included in the accommodation, and they take place only when they naturally align with the rhythm of the space and the guests. There is no fixed program — participation is entirely by choice.

The total number of guests on the farm remains limited (up to approximately 12 people) to preserve a calm and grounded atmosphere. Guests have access to a gas stove, refrigerator and basic utensils for shared use, as well as electricity for lighting and charging small devices. The environment is intentionally simple, supporting a mindful and uncluttered way of living during your stay.

The location offers easy access to both nature and culture: the beach is a two-minute walk away, the village of Marathopolis is five minutes on foot, and the wider Messinia region invites exploration of its coastline, landscapes and heritage.

Please note that the dining area is located beneath pine trees, so guests with allergies should take this into consideration. Dogs and cats live on the farm in designated areas. The space is not suitable for young children, as it is designed primarily for quietness and inner rest.

This is more than a place to sleep. Skiaxtro Cocoon Retreat is an invitation to disconnect from noise, reconnect with nature and experience a slower, more conscious way of being — by the sea, among trees, in silence.

  • I took this photo in Messinia, Greece in summer 2016. It's of Voidokilia Beach and it's surroundings. Voidokilia Beach is on the Peloponnese peninsula and it was the most picturesque beach that I visited during that Greek trip, which was almost exclusively in Messinia. On that mountain is Nestor's Cave and above this are the ruins of a 13th-century Frankish castle (Old Navarino or Palaiokastro). Look closely and you will see :). I didn't get to walk up there. It was brutally hot that day and I spent most of the time at the beach. But, I did make time for some hiking. Near where I took this photo there was a lot of medieval or ancient ruins. Near those beautiful rocks. I had to be careful when walking on them, but it was worth it!

If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Alex and Nicos are incredible hosts. They have all the natural charm of Greek people and have created a utopia on their small farm with chickens and cats and hammocks … tranquility awaits.
