Villa on Hilltop Estate
Classic old villa built in 1905 with 180 degree ocean views. This property includes a Main House and a Guest House, each can accommodate up to 4 people. We are able to host up to 8 people maximum.
Villa Askedra is located on the mainland of Peloponneses, directly across of Poros Island. The property is privately situated near the waterfront at the Harbor Entrance on 7 acres of hillside.
The property offers old-world charm (original tile floors, decorative fireplace, antiques, piano) with commanding and unobstructed views of the harbor, Poros Island, the Saronic Gulf, surrounding mountains, and other islands nearby. The home provides complete privacy and is sheltered by tall pine trees and cypress trees. Lemon, almond and olive trees can also be found on the property.
The villa is located in an ideal environment that is quiet, yet is only a 10 minute walk to town and a 2 minute water taxi ride to Poros Island for shopping, beaches, restaurants, and nightlife. There are two large porch areas to relax and dine while enjoying the sunrise and sunsets, and view of the harbor entrance and boats passing by (the West Porch area is completely covered and sheltered by the sun). Perfect for couples, families, or those preferring a retreat-like setting. Cleaning and linen changes are included in the cleaning fee, and our favorite local cook is available to either deliver authentic greek cuisine or cook on site and at reasonable rates. Different meals can be arranged in advance and according to dietary restrictions.

The most BEAUTIFUL villa we had all stayed in. We were a group of friends/couples aged 25, 26 and 27 and we absolutely loved it. Yako is amazing at communicating and gave us so many recommendations. The couple looking after the property who live near by were just divine and we had a delicious home cooked meal cooked by them. A very memorable holiday in an extremely historical villa surrounded by gorgeous beaches, swimming and people. Thank you Yako it was so lovely.

Villa Askedra
Villa Askedra was wonderful. It was more beautiful than the pictures, clean, comfortable, with outstanding views. The location was perfect, walking distance to Galatas, and water taxis to Poros, where buses ran to beaches, etc. Day trips were an easy drive to Hydra, Epidauros, Spetses, and we were always glad to return to our villa. The villa owners (in the U.S. and on-site) were extremely helpful with information and suggestions. It was our best vacation ever and we would recommend it to everyone who wants to "experience" Greece.
Enjoy!!

An extraordinary historic villa overlooking the water on the Peloponneses!
Our family’s stay at Villa Askedra in Galatas this summer was delightful, extraordinary and memorable. The grace and beauty of the villa and hillside estate sort of collectively took our breath away with it’s handsome high-ceilinged rooms and lovely views from every window, and also because of the extraordinary sense of place that the villa possesses. It’s the very kind of place we’ve always hoped to find, an historic villa in a beautiful location on a rise of land overlooking the water within walking distance of a smallish but lively coastal town and within striking distance of day trips to outstanding historical sites and natural areas and, finally, conducive to bicycling to explore the area and local sites.
Members of the family who owns Villa Askedra were very kind and extremely helpful with recommendations and arrangements and a pleasure to deal with.
Our first morning, my husband, a botanist, and our 20 something son happily explored most of the hillside estate while I collected armfuls of lemons that lay on the ground under the heavily laden lemon trees just downslope from the kitchen door. We made a huge batch of the best ever lemonade and had lemons aplenty to take with us for the remainder of our journey.
We loved walking the path and the road along the water into town. Galatas is a small lively town with good restaurants and shops and friendly and helpful shopkeepers. We were in Galatas during the World Cup in June and enjoyed dinners in the open air restaurants on the waterfront and the comraderie of locals and visitors in watching the games. We thought the Souvlaki, Tzatziki and Greek salads were especially delicious at “O Vlakhos”, a family taverna where Eleni and her husband Thanassi cook and serve traditional and inspired meals and offer quite good local greek wine. Another of my favorites, is the Vessalas Bakery (next to the church) where Menelaos and his wife, Litsa, make and sell fresh baked goods and make rice pudding the old way, with goat’s milk, which is incredibly tasty.
The beaches on Poros are not to be missed and there is a very reasonable and friendly bike rental shop tucked away off the waterfront road on Poros where you can rent bikes for a day or for the duration of your stay.
Don’t miss hiking to Devil’s Bridge, 20 minutes north of Galatas. The hike is less than an hour into a beautiful gorge with waterfalls and swimming holes.
We recommend V. Askedra highly to anyone wanting to "experience" Greece.

it was soooo nice!!!
Staying with 2 families (4 adults, 4 children age 10-13) at Villa Askedra was more than perfect! We loved everything: the house, the garden, the view, the beaches, the places to visit and to eat, the friendliness of the Greek people etc.
And not to forget the owner, who is so kind and so helpful! Thank you!
We would definately recommend the villa to friends and relatives.

wonderful familyweek
My family and I (age from 10 to 70) had a wonderful week in the quiet, charming, historic Villa with impressive views of Poros and the Saronic Gulf surrounded by shady trees. The house was clean and the house and terrace features was very good and corresponded with the listing description and listing photos. The contact with Yako in advance and with Dora during the stay was very pleasant and helpful. We had a relaxing time with visits to various beaches, the amphitheater of Epidaurus and evening visits of Poros. Thanks again!
