"A great base for outdoor activities around Saranac Lake. Spacious room at a great price. Nice, friendly staff. Clean, comfortable room. Good parking with easy access to the building. Not fancy, but has everything we were looking for. Our go-to lodging when we’re in the area."
"Loved the access to firepits although we didn't use them. Not super close to town but walkable. Only complaint was the air conditioner was REALLY loud and woke us up every time it kicked on. Comfortable one night stay."
"Loved the lakefront view, the private parking and boats. The room could use some repairs, mostly what looks to be some pretty bad water damage/mildew in the bathroom. The entrance into the building has a carpet that's pulling up and causing a trip hazard. The staff was kind enough to provide us a corkscrew when we asked for one and we got a complimentary glad of champagne when we got there which was nice."
"Great property. Very clean. Helpful staff.
Cons - we were traveling with a dog. Asked about dog-friendly restaurants. Staff not helpful. Sent us to two restaurants that were not dog friendly. Maybe create an up-to-date list of dog friendly restaurants. River Trail Beer works was great! Very accommodating.
Pesticides were sprayed on property without prior communication. Not a great idea when you are traveling with a dog. A separate area should have been mainlined without the pesticide for dog.
Thanks."
"This is a contactless property, so there is no way to rate the staff. The pool was out of order, but they had a pool that could be used just down the road, not that we were interested. The room was large, the beds were comfortable and the it was all clean, without smelling of cleaning solutions. It was possible to open windows for fresh air, and the road was a quite one."
"Clean but very basic. Very small bathroom. Chose this for the lake side location and inexpensive rate. It was sufficient, and clean, and across the street from a restaurant. Didn't need fancy, just a place to sleep."
"We stayed at Whiteface Lodge for our last family trip of the year. We hadn't been back in 13 years and by chance ended up in the suite right above our old one.
The One Bedroom Superior Suite was spotless and had a true Adirondack feel. Housekeeping actually mops the suite floors during turnarounds instead of just vacuuming. The walk-out porch had a great mountain view with the leaves just starting to turn. The 2nd floor coffee bar is open from 5 AM to 5 PM, which was ideal for grabbing a cup early, sitting on the chilly porch before breakfast, or walking the grounds while waiting for everyone to wake up.
The underground tunnel connects the buildings so you don't have to step out in the cold. The movie theater has a cozy basement feel with a Bose Tube setup!, fresh popcorn, family movies at 10 AM, and older PG-13 films at 9 PM. The bowling alley, arcade, and pool tables are all right together. The indoor/outdoor pool and hot tubs are heated, though stepping outside takes a second to adjust if cold.
We ate at Peak 47 lounge the first night to skip the Lake Placid parking hassle; the pizza was great, and having a full kitchen made leftovers easy for lunch. KANU offers an upscale prime rib buffet, but we passed because of picky eaters (kids).
Parking note: valet uses a heated garage, while the free self-parking lot fills up quickly during weddings. In town, event parking gets tight, but there is free street parking along Mirror Lake Drive if you don't mind a short walk."
"Friendly and attentive staff from front desk to housekeeping. Very clean room with beautiful view. Full use of all amenities offered by High Peaks. Walking distance to downtown shops & restaurants. Great stay!"
Upper Saranac Lake. Beach, dock. King bed, pets, paddle, hike, Olympic venues
10/10 Excellent
"This camp was deal for our gathering of long-time friends…great spaces for hanging out, relaxing, conversation & sharing meals together, not to mention its geographical location worked well for all of the activities we had in mind(The Wild Center, church service at Chapel Island, paddling on Upper Saranac Lake, riding bikes in the new ADK Trail, rail biking at Revolution Rail, checking out Ausable Chasm). The host, Bruce, could not be more generous with sharing information & ideas with his guests! In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much that we’ve already booked again for a future visit!!"
