Carriage House at Roadhouse Lodge: romantic suite, fireplace & lake-view deck

If you're looking for a romantic getaway in the mountains, this is the one. The Carriage House is a standalone suite next to the Roadhouse Lodge with its own private entrance, a queen bed, a gas log fireplace, a small kitchen, and a deck with a view of the lake.

It's the kind of place where you light the fire, cook breakfast together, and don't leave until you feel like it. The space is small enough to feel cozy and private, but has everything you need: full bath, TV, Wi-Fi, and your own kitchen setup.

The Roadhouse is the closest lodging to Twin Lakes and the Mt. Elbert trailhead. Gourmet coffee and soft serve are available on-site during season (May to October). Food trucks set up next door in summer, and the village has an art gallery and gift shop within walking distance in summer and fall.

From here you can kayak or paddleboard on the lake, hike fourteeners, drive Independence Pass to Aspen in summer, or hit Ski Cooper, Copper, and Vail in winter. Leadville and Buena Vista are each about 20 to 25 minutes away.
