This historic Ft. Screven structure has been completely restored and renovated.
Layla Palmer of The Lettered Cottage fame has completely redecorated this amazing home and is a recipient of the Tybee Island Historic Society Preservation Award!!! Originally built as one of three Mess Halls for the fort, this home has had a long and colorful history including time as a boarding house. This duplex with Screened Inn on the other side with its own private entrance, Enlisted Men's Mess Hall features tall ceilings with ceiling fans, extra large windows in every room, hardwood floors and wrap around screened porch.

Fenced-in yard with large palms and live oaks. Two blocks from the North Beach, 5 minutes from the Tybee Light House Station and the North Beach Grill restaurant. The Jaycee Park (ball fields, walking path, playground) is located directly behind the home.

Gorgeous cottage

We absolutely loved our stay at the Mess Hall Cottage. The kitchen was well equipped, the porch was a lovely place to spend our non-beach time and the beach was just a short walk away. We would definitely stay here again.

Vitamin Sea is awesome!

Always wonderful

We have stayed at Screened Inn numerous times, and we can't imagine staying anywhere else when we visit Tybee. We also feel that the mermaids are hands down the best property management group that we've ever encountered. We'll be back as soon as possible!

Tybee Island vacation

Stayed here for a few days with my husband, our friends and their dog. The place was perfect for two couples or a couple with a few kids. The fenced in yard was excellent for the dog too! We spent most of our time on the delightful screened in porch watching life go by on the Island. Clean, cute and cleverly decorated. Easy walk to the beach through the secret gate. I would definitely come back and stay here again.

But the highlight was the incredible service from the Mermaid Cottages staff. They were incredibly helpful and responsive. I would rent through them again for an unforgettable experience in Tybee Island!

Fabulous! Location!! Location!!! Love Tybee!!!

It was such wonderful stress free stay. This cottage was like a slice of heaven. You could easily walk to a few beaches and we rented a golf cart for true island wheels. We will be back. Thank you Mermaids!!!!

Adorable cottage! Perfect location!

We had such a great stay at the Enlisted Men’s Mess Hall. We felt welcome before we even arrived. Tammy was wonderful checking in with us before our arrival and when we first got there. We loved how we could easily walk to the beach, lighthouse ice cream and many restaurants. The space in the cottage was just right for our family of 4 and our 2 dogs loved the fenced in yard and daily walks around the adjacent park. We would love to come back!
