  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

Great experience

Lovely hotel centrally located. The food , breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious and with a very extensive menu. The best part about this hotel were the wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. They were amazing. We had a wonderful stay.

We had a nice stay in a good location although access is not easy and no lift in the building. The room was clean but very much in need of some modernisation. The pool was a terrible green colour so we decided it didn’t look safe to swim in it. The restaurant was pleasant and the menu was ok but the breakfast was limited. The staff were all very helpful.

Staff and services are really good, they try their best to make the stay memorable. They also give multiple complimentary services like daily foot massage, coconut water, desserts etc. they would go beyond making your stay comfortable.

Had an excellent stay here for 5 days. The room was spacious with a great bathroom and lovely view of the lake. The buffet breakfast in the on-site restaurant had a wide and tasty selection of Indian dishes as well as western options. The restaurant was itself great too. All of the staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. The location was very good and a lot of the main sightseeing places for tourists such as City Palace are walkable.

Wonderful place with a unique infinity pool overlooking the lake. Because it’s located in the old part of the city, you have to walk a very narrow walkway in the dark to enter the hotel. Some may find this unsettling but you’re rewarded with a bright and classy looking lobby with a view to the lake. Staff are friendly and helpful.

This hotel was almost perfect in all terms. So the only potential improvements could be the extremely noisy kitchen ventilation on the roof which you can hear in all rooms and the smelling bathroom of room no 25. Apart from that was the room itslef perfect, clean and had a stunning view towards the lake. The stuff was unbelievable friendly and helpful with everything and the restaurant was outstanding good. Loved our stay here!

Nice hotel, great location, and outstanding staff

This is a nice hotel in a great location; has a terrific terrace restaurant overlooking the lake. Inside it has a genuinely Mediterranean look and feel (Greece comes to mind). It is well positioned relative to the old city of Udaipur, so the tourist sites are easily accessible. The best part of this hotel is its outstanding staff; they are young, very eager to please, efficient, and consistently pleasant and helpful. Having traveled a great deal, I would rate this staff as among the best I have experienced anywhere. We found this hotel by accident, after having seen some pretty dismal other options in Udaipur. We ended up very pleased that we found this.

Excellent staff but poor value for money

The best part was the staff. Friendly and responsive. The property itself was overrated. We have stayed at multiple hotels and resorts in Udaipur and this one did not offer good value for money. The location was convenient. The cleanliness was not so much. The views were poor and photos did not do justice to the real views.

Great staff, hotel slightly tricky to find

I booked a suite at this hotel for the end of my Rajasthan stay. It was tricky to find but the hotel were great at sending instructions on getting there. The hotel itself and my room was very spacious and well decorated but I felt there could have been more nods to local culture around. The view of the lake is stunning but there are some wear and tear of being near the water starting to show. I had half board which included a la carte for dinner and the food was incredible with a wide range of cuisines on offer. The one thing I can’t fault is the staff especially Kanishka on the front desk and the restaurant waiters who were very kind and helpful and made my stay enjoyable.

We stayed at the Moustache Verandah hotel for our anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is incredibly clean, with everything spotless and well-maintained. The only minor issue we encountered was that the hot water didn’t always work, but it didn’t take away from our overall enjoyment. What truly makes this hotel stand out is the staff—they are absolutely amazing. Always friendly, attentive, and willing to help with anything we needed. One morning, we had to leave early before breakfast service started, and they went out of their way to make sure we could still have a meal before our trip. It was such a thoughtful gesture. On top of that, they surprised us with gifts for our wedding anniversary, which made our stay even more special. Overall, it was an incredible experience. If I ever return to Udaipur, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Moustache again!

Amazing Udaipur

Newly built property. Everything was more than excellent. Booked at theast moment, searched for number online (+91 6378 814 419). They confirmed early check-in in the night Big shout to Prerita at front desk and BP Singh (restaurant staff). Junior suite on mezzanine is beautifully done - seems each aspect of thought through. Common areas are small but very beautiful. Lake facing (smaller lakes) with public fountains. Restaurant is great - be it ambience or food. Dinner on MAP plan is a la carte but allowed us to order multiple dishes. Breakfast buffet too has excellent spread. Easy walk to all points of interest.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel and had a fantastic time. The location is excellent - within walking distance of the town itself and the City Palace etc. It is a 2 minute walk from the main road and a tuk tuk cannot go down there so you do need to pull your cases along on arrival. I guess if you were arriving in the dark for the first time that might be a bit awkward however the area did not feel unsafe at all. The property is an old haveli and has been really beautifully restored with the old courtyard as reception. The room was spacious and clean with all expected amenities and also a small fruit platter on arrival. We had a balcony overlooking the lake area with 2 comfortable chairs which was lovely to relax in. The restaurant itself also overlooked the lake. Breakfast was very good too and the staff were helpful - not that we had any issues. There was quite a personal touch to everything - they were kind enough to spot it had been my birthday and gave us a small decorated cake slice which was lovely. Definitely recommended.
