We had a wonderful moms/dayghters weekend away. The house was perfect for us as 3 moms and daughters - each having our own space and the college girls getting the bunk room to share stories and giggle as much as they desired. It’s a great location for visiting wineries and relaxing after a long semester/fall.
House was nice, good layout for multiple families. We enjoyed using the properties amenities like pool, hot tub and trails. We paid to have the breakfast delivered and it was good. The property could benefit from a deep clean: floors were filthy and dust in bathrooms. Kitchen could be better stocked with serving utensils like tongs, spatulas, etc.
We stayed over the weekend with four adults and five teenagers (14-17).
First, the property is exactly as described in the listing. It has everything you need and tucked in a beautiful area off Lake Michigan. You can be in New Buffalo or downtown Union Pier within a few minutes. There are hiking trails, rental kayaks/canoes, swimming pool and many other things to do on the property.
Specific to the house, we stayed in the Rivers Edge and it was clean, updated and has everything you need. Plenty of room. And the bunk room was amazing for the kids.
Finally, the owners and operators of the property are always in contact to ensure you have everything you need. Extremely helpful.
Highly recommend this property.
Wonderful place, great location and stellar service
Eric is a great host. The property was clean, spacious and it’s in a great location. The pool and hot tub is top notch. So many things to do in the area and the lake is a little over a mile away. Great place for family gatherings and the kids loved it thanks Eric for your hospitality. We will be back soon.
This cottage has so much to offer! There is a huge family room space with seating for so any. The big, open kitchen worked great for family meals. Everything was clean and there was nothing we were in need of.
The grounds were unbelievable. Lots of space to walk around and several hiking trails with great views. We saw so many deer!
The barn and the pool were a huge bonus, especially for a winter get away.
We will definitely be heading back!
Had a wonderful stay at The Farm! The staff was always kind and courteous. The pool was a nice size and we mostly had it all to ourselves. The house had plenty of room, the layout was good, we had 2 adults, 2 kids and 1 dog. The bathrooms were very nice. There were plenty of towels and sheets. The kids had fun walking the garden area and picking vegetables and fruits. The gas grill and the fire pit were nice in the backyard, we made smores and roasted hotdogs. The location was good, short trip to New Buffalo and Union Pier with lots to do.
I rented the River's Edge Cottage with my family for a week in late June. We were able to comfortably sleep 12 people with room to spare. The location is less than a mile from Red Arrow Highway and the town line beach in Union Pier could be reached on foot. The kitchen, living room, basement, and screened in porch were gteat locations for us to spend time the days that it rained. On sunny days we spent time around the pool, walking near the river in the forest, or at the beach. We had a great time and would happily return in the future.
My family recently joined together, at the Creekside Cottage, from several parts of the country. The space was perfect for gathering and spending time together. Two bedrooms have ensuite baths - both very nicely remodeled. Third bedroom has bath just adjacent. The kitchen and main living area has rustic painted wood floors and a wonderful island for putting together puzzles. The bunk room was very cool and exciting for my young nephew. The pool and hot tub are clean and inviting. The ability to swim in Indiana, in February, was amazing. The pool lights made for a lovely evening setting. We enjoyed watching the chickens as well as the deer in the woods across the river. We really wanted to use the new pool table but did not make it happen this trip.
Julie and Eric were helpful and kind. We all would love to see the property in the spring / summer to see the gardens come alive. Close to nice dining and Lake Michigan. Would definitely recommend.
First the positives...Julie and Eric were always there for our questions. The staff was always kind and courteous. The pool was a nice size and we mostly had it all to ourselves. The house had plenty of room, the layout was good, we had 7 adults, 6 kids and 1 infant. The bathrooms were very nice. There were plenty of towels and sheets. The kids had fun walking the garden area and picking vegetables and fruits. The gas grill and the fire pit were nice in the backyard, we made smores and roasted hotdogs. Tried to walk the trails but was impossible due to the mosquitoes and spider webs (even with spraying bug spray on yourself). That is just the nature of being on a farm I guess. The location was good, short trip to New Buffalo with lots to do. The things that were slight issues were...2 chairs in the living room area were in need of replacement, when you sat down you sunk so far down you could feel the coils. The front bedroom had a musty smell at times as well as the bunk room. The bed in the front bedroom made very loud squeaky noises every time you moved, don't know if it was the mattress or the wooden frame it was on. We cooked a lot, the kitchen was equipped with lots of dishes but if you plan on cooking like we did you may have to bring some favorite items. The most concerning issues...while at the pool area bees were gathering by the hot tub steps. Two people (one a child) were stung. We did address this with Julie and Eric. They did address it quickly, but because they didn't want to harm the bees, they cleaned the area, made sure there wasn't a nest lurking beneath the steps and tub, and used a natural remedy. But, they came back. I felt like their well being meant more than the guest's. The last thing, which to me and my group was the issue that really made our trip unpleasant was that we killed at least 20 ticks in the house. I know we were on a farm, but I'm pretty sure we didn't bring them in on our person, if so, they would have stayed on our body. We found them crawling on the walls and on the day bed in the living area. We had to constantly be on the look out and it was giving the young mothers anxiety. I give this home 3 stars for overall experience because I was expecting rustic luxury...the pricing per night did not match the quality of the experience.
This property was ideally located! The organic farm next door and farm animals were delightful! Also, the little farmers market on the premises and the pool were enjoyed by all. The house itself was clean and tidy and very interesting the was it was decorated mixing new and vintage. We all loved it!!
We had a wonderful stay at the River’s Edge Cottage! The 8 adults and toddler stayed for the Labor Day weekend to celebrate two birthdays. There was plenty of room. The daybeds in the living room got frequent use and were great for naps while listening to the sounds of the river. I liked that the house had some of its original vintage charm. Access to the river and amenities next door to the b&b was great- a beautiful spot for groups, families, and friends. Thank you!

Fun Family House on the River
We held a family 60th Bday party at Goldberry; in the River's Edge house with overflow guests staying in the owners' home. Had the time of our lives. River's Edge has large open spaces where we hung out all day playing games and just catching up. We were a group of over 20 from 2 years old to 65....plenty of space for all to spread out, but to also be together.
The house is bright and kitschy in just the right way. Good kitchen with MORE than enough dinnerware, glassware, etc. We cooked and ate all our meals in River's Edge with no problem.
Bedrooms at River's Edge are very large with plenty of room.
Views over the river are beautiful. There is screened porch that would be lovely in the warmer weather.
Owner's home is large and accommodating. Those that slept there said the beds and baths were great.
This is a great home for a family reunion. Very private, you don't see any neighbors or even the inn, yet you can easily follow the path and go through the gate to be right on that part of the property.

River's Edge Cottage at Goldberry Woods
This cottage worked wonderfully for our family! We had three couples and each couple had there own bedroom, that are very comfortable and spacious. We had 5 kids that slept in the bunk room on the other side of the cottage. It is very big bunk room with lots of extra space for the kids to play. We never felt crowded at all, because the layout is very open. It also has lots of dining space with a huge dining room and the screened in patio. We saved a lot of money on this trip by bringing our own food and using the grill and kitchen, and had smores over the fire pit. Julie and Eric are great hosts and provide a lot of extras like bikes, games, and canoes. The entire property is full of nature and is nice and private. It is also centrally located to so many activities from a day at the beach, to kayaking, Berry picking, wineries and breweries, antique shops, and even a casino. Lots of great ice cream parlors as well. Would highly recommend this cottage for a wonderful family vacation.
