About this property
Unplug and Relax! Outdoor Family Retreat on 6,000 Acre Ranch!
Escape to our secluded cabin on our 6,000-acre ranch in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Whether you’re here to unwind or explore, guests can enjoy access to three private lakes (bring your own kayak/paddleboard) and miles of rugged ranch trails, perfect for hiking and riding. Our property offers a true backcountry experience, so please know that while our trails are maintained, guests should expect natural terrain and a more rugged experience than what you would experience at a state park.
Nestled on our family-owned 6,000-acre ranch in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, our newly renovated cabin offers the perfect escape for outdoor enthusiasts or those seeking a peaceful retreat. The cabin itself is designed for comfort and relaxation, featuring a cozy queen-sized bed, bunk beds (full/twin), pull out couch, a spa-like bathroom, and a kitchen equipped with a mini fridge (no freezer), ice maker, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate burner, kettle, and a Keurig coffee machine. The cabin also has a Blackstone and charcoal/wood burning grill in the shared outdoor space. Please note that we do our best to supply propane and firewood, but always suggest guests bring their own in the event that we are not stocked!
Please note that due to seasonal hunting operations, the ranch is closed during certain times of the year to preserve wildlife patterns and support responsible land management. If the cabin is showing available on Airbnb, all hiking and riding trails are open for guest use during your stay. If dates appear unavailable, it means either the cabin is booked or the property is closed for the season. Our calendar is always kept up to date, and guests are encouraged to check availability in advance when planning their visit.
Additional Accommodations: We have a second cabin located adjacent to this one that comfortably sleeps two guests. If you’re interested in booking both cabins for a larger group, please let me know.
Shopping & Groceries: Depending on your route, Uvalde or Kerrville will likely be the last towns you pass through with major stores such as Walmart, H-E-B, and Walgreens.
Camp Wood is the closest town to the ranch and offers a family-owned gas station, Get-N-Go, as well as Family Dollar. Both are convenient for essentials, but we recommend stocking up before arriving.
Nearby Attractions: Chalk Bluff – Approximately 30 minutes away. Most of the drive time is spent exiting the ranch (about 20 minutes), with the remainder on the highway.
Nueces River – About 15–20 minutes away. Our county road crosses two sections of the river, making it a quick and scenic trip from the cabin.
Garner State Park – Roughly 50 minutes to 1 hour away. Although it may appear close on the map, the rolling hills between the ranch and the Leakey/Concan area make for a longer drive. The route takes you through Camp Wood and along the famous Twisted Sisters, often considered one of the most scenic drives in Texas.
Other Things to Note: 1. The kitchen is equipped with a small toaster oven, mini fridge (no freezer), hot plate burner, Keurig Coffee machine, ice maker, and microwave. 2. The cabin is fully fenced, making it a great option for guests traveling with pets. We do ask that pets not be left outside unattended. 3. Guests will drive approximately 8 miles on a well-maintained caliche road to reach the cabin. A 4x4 vehicle is not required, but heavy rain can make certain sections muddy. 4. Cell service can be spotty throughout the ranch. Depending on your provider, you may have little to no service while exploring.

We brought our ranger and drove every trail, the views were so beautiful, we rented both cabins so we had total privacy, The family were great hosts, we would love to visit again, praying they get some rain. Lots of wildlife, thanks for having us.
The property was as described, it was clean and comfortable. It was well stocked and the host left us welcome treats. It was a very hot day but the AC worked very well and kept us cool.

Loved this property! The WiFi connection could have been better (for loading GPS for the area) but the views were stunningly scenic! The host was attentive and very responsive. The large cabin was very clean and had all the amenities of home! 10/10!
We got there as the sun was going down and the sky was turning pink! Absolutely beautiful at that time, no light pollution and a lot of stars visible. Highly recommend for a quiet night. A bunch of bugs but that's what you should expect when being outdoors, be warned though. Ashley was so sweet when we met her in the morning during our hike. Animals were so friendly.

Communication with property manager was great!
No TV in cabin , wasn’t aware -not listed on ad. Didn’t matter bc there were many games that were provided in the cabin which kept us busy.
Spotty WiFi.
Dried lakes, unable to locate lake on ranch that was swimmable. Couldn’t download maps due to limited service and spotty WiFi.
Takes a minute to get cabin once on ranch property. 20 min. Approximately to get to cabin. Closest river to site were quite a distance away.
I hesitate to give away this amazing little jewel. I will be back. I have stayed at dozens of VRBOs, some expensive others cheap. But nothing like this! First the owner, Ashley is the most helpful person ever. I had a maintenance issue at midnight the night I arrived and she sent out a family member to take care of it that night. I was always bugging her with questions and she always answered promptly and with such a cheerful attitude, never seemed bothered. I totally wasn't expecting that. When I arrived there were farm fresh fancy eggs and their own honey from the ranch.
The cabin is very cute, clean, efficient and cozy. Ashley was so accommodating when at last minute my sister and her boyfriend decided they wanted to come after I showed them videos she got the cabin next door ready right away.
I saw so many interesting flora and fauna. Fancy wild hogs, a raccoon family, road runners, bats, interesting bugs, farm animals, deer, one exotic deer, beautiful fields of flowers, cliffs, mountains, dry creeks, ponds, and could even see the milky way at night and much more.
There were so many walking and driving (need a 4X4) trails
I couldn’t even explore them all in the week I was there.
But the most important to me is they had a dig sight set up for finding tons and tons of Native American artifacts. What fun!
Thank you so much Ashley and please thank you Aunt and Mr. Williamson.
We had the best time during our family getaway. We loved the drive getting to the cabin. Our host made it easy to explore the ranch with directions and using the onX app. Our favorite parts of the stay were fishing, beautiful sunsets, hiking, driving the trails, and the mini farm. Our family loved being surrounded by nature and a peaceful escape.
