I'm Vail bougie, so I prefer to drive 5-8 minutes to the Vail parking garages when I ski. I like to use Uber/Lyft/taxis/private drivers if I go out after the slopes close so I can have drinks for après skiing and awesome nights out dancing and mingling. I have guests that prefer to walk 8 minutes to the free bus stop with their skis and some that prefer to drive to the Village garages. Tell me what you experience you are looking for and I'm happy to recommend options that will cater to your preferences and exceed the expectations of mountain ski life.
GUEST ACCESS FREE ONSITE RESERVED PARKING: There is a free DESIGNATED reserved parking spot for 1 CAR available. You MUST park in designated parking areas or your cars will be towed. Free parking is VERY limited in Vail. There is NO PARKING for TRAILERS of any kind and they will be TOWED at owner's expense.
If you have MORE THAN 1 CAR, you will need to park them in the Lionshead, Cascade or Vail Village parking garages. Free parking is VERY LIMITED in Vail and cars parked anywhere in Vail in undesignated areas are towed at owner's expense. The free Intermountain bus route stop is an 8-minute walk.
FREE BUS LINES: There are 2 bus lines (West Vail Red and West Vail Green line buses) that run from the Intermountain Stop. Between the 2 bus lines there is a bus every 15 minutes during ski season. You can get to 3 areas to ski from these bus lines (Cascade Village, Lionshead Village, Vail Village).
Each line runs on 30-minute intervals between 5:45/6 am and 8:15/8:30 pm. After that they run on 40-minute intervals until about 1:50/2:10 am during ski season.
PARKING GARAGES: The most affordable garages are the main Lionshead Garage and Vail Village Garage. Rates are below. However, parking is free after 3pm to 3am if you want to drive into the villages during that time. Parking in the garages is generally free during the summer/fall months
