The space -One king sized bed in master bedroom loft (note that there is a spiral staircase, which may be difficult for young children, elderly, or those with disabilities) -One queen sized bed in main floor bedroom -One double futon bed in livingroom (very comfortable, thick, spring coil mattress) -Two full bathrooms (towels and soap included) (showers only, no bathtub) -Kitchen equipped with all the basics (dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, etc) -Coffee bar with drip coffee maker, French press, coffee beans and grinder, kettle, tea bags -Washer and dryer -Deck with gazebo, BBQ, and patio table and chairs -Fire pit (only to be used when there is no fire ban) (You need to bring your own firewood and kindling, which can be bought at Rona or Marche Richelieu in Perkins) -Full cell service in area Guest access Guests have access to the entire cottage and property with the exception of the small barn, greenhouse, and other small horse structures. Other things to note We welcome dogs, but unfortunately, due to allergies, WE CANNOT ACCEPT CATS.
There is a security camera above the front, outside door. It only covers the driveway area and audio is turned off. It is used for security when nobody is at the house.
This is a country home, so some things to note are:
-The house has some small quirks that add to it's charm, but may be different from city homes -In spring, summer, and fall there may be mosquitos and other insects that can bite, so insect repellent may be a good idea. While there are screens on all windows, insects may get inside from time to time when doors are opened and closed. -Note that we live on a dirt road, so there may be dust and some potholes/bumpiness on that small stretch of the road before our driveway. -We use well water, which is tested and safe to drink. It may taste different from city water, so if you prefer to drink bottled water, it is available at the nearby market. -Water pressure in the home can be variable. Only one shower can be used at any one time and if you run water using appliances such as the dishwasher or washing machine while showering, pressure in the shower will drop. -There is a sump pump in the crawlspace under the house that runs periodically throughout the day. This is nothing to be concerned about, but you may hear it from time to time. It just keeps groundwater out of the crawlspace. -Walls are not very well sound proofed on bedrooms/bathrooms -There is no fenced yard, so dogs need to be kept on leash or well-supervised and children supervised. -The gazebo on the deck does not have a mosquito net. -There is a path through the forest behind the house, but it is very natural and the first part is wetland and can be very wet and muddy depending on how much rain we've had, so rain boots may be needed. There may also be logs to climb over in places, which adds to the adventure, but may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties. -This is a country home and we try to leave things as natural as possible to provide homes for pollinators and other Woodland creatures. We allow natural wildflowers to grow and only mow areas that are essential. -The property is a former hobby farm, so there are remnants of this (horse structure, chicken coop, old greenhouse) -There is a new house being built on the next lot beyond the barn so you may hear some construction sounds on the distance. The property limit is at the barn, so please don't walk behind that point.

The house itself is welcoming and comfortable, and a great place to hang out for humans and dogs both. The property was really fun to explore with our kids, and there's lots to do in the area!
Host was very helpful, and the house met our expectations.Very quiet and on a dead-end street which eliminated most traffic. Great if you own a dog like we do. Fun place for a dog.
Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Very nice property, welcome details really appreciated. All you need for a stay with family. Communication with owner was easy and we look forward to come back in a different season.
Great, very private house in a lovely location! Plenty of space for three adults and a teenager. We brought our dogs and enjoyed strolling with them up and down the quiet road. Lovely fire pit and grill was great to have. Only 30 minutes into Ottawa as well as to Gatineau National Park. Tim Horton’s only minutes away
Spacious comfortable cabin with all the amenities of home. Groceries and restaurants close by. Lots of fun games to choose from as you relax with friends or family.
This is a wonderfully quiet property just a few minutes from the center of Perkins, yet isolated from its neighbors. I was traveling with my dog and it was a good location for the two of us. The owners were friendly and responsive.
Fantastic home in the woods, great rustic feeling the second you come in. Everything about the check-in and check-out process is easy and all issues with the home were communicated before hand. Fantastic home with lovely scenery!
Beautiful Cottage and Lovely Property, Escape to Nature
The cottage was absolutely comfortable and beautiful, one of a kind! Very clean, well stocked, amazing sheets and blankets (high end hotel feel); we enjoyed our stay here very much. The property is gorgeous and teeming with wildlife. We saw deer, fox, bunnies, and so many different types of birds right from the cottage and during our walks on the trails. We would definitely stay again, and would highly recommend it to others!
I booked this beautiful chalet for my wife and I to celebrate our 20 year marriage anniversary. The booking went well and our host Sarah was a real pleasure to communicate with. She even went so far as to leave us a gift bag and card for our celebration. I definitely recommend this chalet for anyone who wants to get away and enjoy the area.
Hats off to Sarah for a great time !

Our adult family of four celebrated my sister-in-law's milestone birthday over 3 nights at this property. We had an amazing time. The property was as described, owner was easy to talk to and responsive and the surroundings were beautiful. We were able to take advantage of proximity to Ottawa, local Ski Hills and Nordik Spa. Extra touches were made by the owner to be sure we were comfortable (including extra instructions book, coffee pods, some snacks). I enjoyed the extra care taken to add privacy to the loft and living room if needed through the addition of curtains. This addition also helped with minimizing light in the morning so we weren't woken up too early. We had a considerable amount of snow over the weekend and someone came and plowed the driveway before we were even awake. Note that the water pressure is quite low, but this is normal for a property of this type and we were able to manage just fine. We would love to come back again in the winter, but could see how it would be a great property in the summer as well.

Pros:- Chalet is situated in a quiet and well-located compound- Amenities, furniture, and general setup were adequate for a comfortable stay- Outdoor features, including the firepit, were enjoyableCons:- The cottage was not properly cleaned prior to arrival; we found cardboard, empty cans, and other waste left around both inside and outside the property (possibly from a prior gathering from previous guests that was not cleaned) Barbecue was full of grease and food remains. Bathroom was filthy as well.- Noticeable damage throughout the chalet, including a shower that was completely broken and left on the floor- Outdoor areas were poorly maintained; the patio door was also broken, with various signs of damage around the property- Water temperature was inconsistent, making showers difficultOverall, the stay was disappointing and does not reflect the price point. I would not choose to return.
What a wonderful stay out this cabin style cottage. The location was perfect for outdoorsy activities and not too far from Ottawa and Gatineau! The space was perfect for a family of 5. The space was well AC during the hot days and the layout was great for playing board games (available at the site) or reading a book! As well, the wildlife was amazing! We saw turkeys, rabbits, foxes and deer. It was a beautiful getaway!
At first glance this property look lovely. Then you realize that the grasses are so tall
My 110 lbs dog disappeared in it, so did huge standing rocks and tree stumps, that he encountered (hard) as he romped. The “driveway” portrayed in the pictures, leading to the trail, is an overgrown swamp. After numerous attempts to get to the trail in the woods, we had to give up- and this trail was the main reason we rented this property. Around the buildings are piles and piles of garbage , some material sharp and dangerous. And in the cottage itself, nearly everything you go to use, is broken. There are two showers, the upstairs shower head is not useable just hanging down, the handheld
Works. In the downstairs shower, there is no mixing battery so it’s with freezing cold or boiling hot. And so on and on and on. We made the best of it, because that’s how we are. But we would never return.
Chalet super propre a l'intérieur. On a adoré!!!
Chalet très agréable, spacieux, bien équipé, à 35 minutes d'Ottawa. Seul bémol: peu d'isolation entre les pièces et entre le rez-de-chaussée et l'étage. Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour. Merci.
