South Shore Inn

8/10 Good

"First time staying at South Shore. It was quiet. Very clean. Comfortable and was very close to Cedar Point. Very affordable, but seemed a bit dated. I liked supporting an independent hotel. They welcomed me with cold bottled water which was a very nice touch after a long trip. The breakfast was cereal, yogurt, toast/bagels, bananas/apples, and had pancake machines. The pool seemed fun with slides, but I didn’t utilize it.,The staff were very kind. Only critique was that the room door didn’t have a working deadbolt, bathroom was pretty narrow and the mattress was a bit uneven. Would I stay here again, most likely."

"Beautiful establishment. The manager or owner when we arrived was very sweet, informative, and inviting. It had very nice rooms, cool, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Pool area was clean and nice. Restaurant and seating were beautiful - we enjoyed sitting across the street on the water. Our only complaints were they were out of a couple appetizers and drinks during our dinner. Since we stayed during the week the outdoor bar was not open - which was communicated ahead of time, however, it would have been nice to utilize it! :-) The wifi connection was fair to poor - it was in and out often, we also had our television connection, when we watched it just before bedtime, it was glitching so much we could not make out the picture of what was being said. We would recommend this hotel room everyone and we would stay again!"

"Great place to stay to be close enough to the park and yet not burn a hole in your pocket. Nice place to sleep, but not really up to date. It has an off ‘old’ smell to it, the TV reception and WiFi weren’t really great, and the breakfast is a small selection of store bought small donuts and muffins. But if you want a safe place to sleep on a budget that’s close to Cedar Point, this is for you. I would stay again."

"Beautiful place along Lake Erie. Love that it's in the water. Fun bar next door. Lots of places to walk or benches/swings to sit and enjoy the views. The sunset in the swimming cove was lovely. Nickel Beach down the road was nice ($7 parking) and cleaner than the beach by the hotel. Plenty of places to eat in Sandusky which is 11 minutes away. Typical breakfast, clean room and extremely comfy beds. Worth the stop!"

"Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable although kind of loud due to old thin windows. Curtains need updated as well. The breakfast was decent. I appreciate that the place appears to still be under some construction so that’s another thing, but hallways and staircases could use cleaning as they were quite dirty. The hot and cold water machine was broken as well, but to their credit, the staff didn’t hesitate to provide me with bottled cold water. I stayed in this hotel as a Red Roof Inn about 3 years ago and it was AWFUL! Many improvements have been made since then and I hope they keep moving in that direction!"
