The location & property was just as described. The secluded cottage even had a separate building with a queen bed & sitting area. The outdoor shower is a nice addition.
The house and studio are situated off the beaten path but only a short drive to vineyard haven. The home has a rustic, vineyard-charm feel and we had a very comfortable and quiet stay. The setting really allowed us to relax and enjoy the nature/outdoors which is what we look for on a trip to the vineyard! As others have said, the walking trails are amazing and also sparsely traveled by those who don’t abut the area, it seems - lots of beautiful ponds and farmland to discover. The studio was super comfortable. The host was incredibly accommodating to a few of our requests and we always heard back from her promptly (and we didn’t encounter any issues while staying at the house).
This cottage is the getaway of all getaways. It is nestled in the woods without another house in site. Our mornings began with trying to decide which hike to take (without having to get in the car). Our lab was in heaven! The cottage is very clean and cozy. The porch was a blessing on our one rainy day. There's something magical about the sleeping cottage (which also has a desk for those of us who need to get some work done). Only minor downside was the size of the frig/freezer - we bring most of our food for the week and it was a bit of a struggle. We will definitely be back.
Hilary was great to work with and very accommodating for our stay. The property is as pictured and everything is described accurately for the property.
You and your car need to be intrepid to negotiate the winding dirt road that leads up to this lovely cottage, but the rewards are great. A beautiful property, picnic table and grills, well kept lawn and attractive stone walls, terrific outdoor shower, hiking trails all around to reach meadows and the lily pad filled pond pictured on the VRBO site. Inside, we were happy to find high-quality linens on the beds, a well-equipped small kitchen and welcoming screen porch that caught much of the summer breeze.. The bedroom is reached via a staircase with a rope banister that may be challenging for older people, but is actually quite safe. Our son and daughter-in-law and their two small dogs stayed in the separate bunkhouse and with excellent Wi-Fi, we’re able to set up their work computers during the week. We made good use of the Lambert‘s Cove Beach pass we bought, enjoyed Menemsha sunsets, West Tisbury farmers market, and a variety of terrific restaurants all around the island. We highly recommend Chilmark Tavern and the Covington in Edgartown. All in all, a happy choice.
We had a great stay at this property. My 9yo daughter and I loved the little sleeping cabin. The house had such a cool rustic vibe, which was exactly what we wanted. We loved the outdoor shower, and spent a lot of time in the screened-in porch, playing games and reading. We also loved the proximity to Vineyard Haven. Would definitely stay here again!
Adorable, simple, rustic and cozy accommodations definitely off the beaten path. Great for nature lovers, bird watchers, hikers, and couch potatoes as well. Great little grill, if you are a foodie you should consider bringing some of your favorite tools as supplies are adequate but bare necessities. Highly recommended place to stay.
A wonderful secluded cabin and bunkhouse to wind down after a long day of fishing! The place was cozy and clean and the property was beautiful, the out door shower was a favorite as well! The dirt roads leading to the house made it seem like an adventure and our small car handled it fine. Only wish we brought more people to share the experience!
We had a great time. The property is beautiful and tranquil, and the house is just what you need for a relaxing vacation. Loved the outdoor shower. WiFi worked really well too.

Remote cabin vibe, cool property
We stayed at this property for one week - it is a very cool remote house/guest house with a big lot and access to hiking trails. There is about a mile long dirt road to access the house, definitely recommend a Jeep or high clearance vehicle. There were a few issues, but Hilary and her family were responsive in helping us through, and definitely are great communicative hosts!
It is everything the description said and much much more. I just wish I would have known it was so far down a dirt road. The dirt road is fun but coming home late at night from dinner it could be a little nerve racking because the road narrows the closer you get to the house. Other than that the property was great and so much character. It had everything we needed and the outside shower was AMAZING! The trails in the area were awesome to walk as well!
The property is magical! Wind-whispering through the trees, the additional Witches Hat cottage, and the over-all property make this a perfect island vacation spot for those looking for tranquility!
