"We loved our stay at Flaxmere Guest Cottage. The cottage was warm, sunny and spacious. Comfy beds with lovely linen and a woodburner. We self catered and it was perfect for staying in by the fire in the evenings. It was lovely being able to wander through the magnificent gardens. A truely unique place and we’d definitely rebook. "

"Would have liked to be supplied with top up tea/coffee etc. Very compact as the name suggested as a tiny home. The grass slop to walk down to the tiny home did not have lighting down it and was dangerous as it was wet. The steps up to the tiny home had a fountain covering half the step, we found this dangerous, and had no lighting to safely nagavate to the tiny home. We had brought a little torch otherwise was could not have got into the tiny home safely. "

"Beautifully located next to Mt Richardson DOC area with lots of forest walks at your doorstep. The property is huge and great for adventures for little kids (away from screens). The house is warm and beautifully recently decorated. Comfortable beds and nice bedding. There is no internet available and therefore no smart TV access (not necessarily a bad thing but notable). Would love to stay again in the summer months. "

"It started by being difficult to get a reply from the owner while booking. On arrival,we were not expected. The owner did arrive, apologised for the mix up and made an effort to clean it, but we just wanted to relax after a 4 hour drive on Christmas Eve. He perhaps didn't have enough time to clean properly because every area was dirty from floors, to shower to kitchen items and the fridge had expired food in it. It also felt uncomfortable with personal items: medications in fridge and legal...

"Three nights, in spring school holidays, at this unique, excellently-equipped cottage, effectively resets the mind into calm. It's only a short drive from Rangiora. You are spoiled with scenic views of incredible gardens, rolling paddocks dotted with sheep, and brooding mountains in the distance. There is total privacy, really comfortable beds, and a warming fire in the fireplace for the evenings. The owners are unintrusive, respectful and very obliging. Lyddington is a must-visit .... I was sad...

He perhaps didn't have enough time to clean properly because every area was dirty from floors, to shower to kitchen items and the fridge had expired food in it. It also felt uncomfortable with personal items: medications in fridge and legal documents in the TV cabinet. Games were a plus but we could not sit on the sofa as there was a smell of death, possibly from dead birds in the flue and there was a smell of cigarettes, including the bedsheets.Outside was not welcoming with a container overflowing with junk near the house and the access to the house was through a paddock of cows and bulls. The plus was the house itself was fenced off but there were still old cow dung around. Not what we had hoped for for a relaxing holiday and we chose to leave after 1 night rather than the 2 we paid for. "
