"This was a really neat stay! We stayed here one night so we could get an early start visiting Volcanoes National park. It felt like we were staying in a tree house! The property had everything we needed for a one night stay. It was plenty spacious enough for my wife and our toddler. The location is great if you are visiting VNP. "

"This property was perfect for visiting the park. It is rustic. The top apartment is very pretty and cozy, but the bottom is just a place to sleep. I would stay here again. "

"If you like quiet, remote and clean with friendly hosts- this is your place.
The bed was super comfortable. The stars can be vividly seen at night and the coqi frogs lull you to sleep. The outdoor shower is awesome.
Glen and Lisa were very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. You can’t beat the accommodations for the price.

"Clean room with everything you need. Couple fans, wall mounted fireplace heater, dehumidifier which kept the room dry enough though bit louder. Bigger bath with separate dressing area. Very close to Volcano NP and the communication with the host was top notch. Not much food options near Volcano NP but good food in Hilo. Nice little garden area with koi pond.
Overall we loved it and we will definitely come back here.
PS - Parking like others mentioned can be bit tighter but it was ok. We came in a 4door wrangler and was able to squeeze in without problem. Full size suvs might be a problem. The last spot near exit is big enough to park a full size suv."
"Nice hotel, close to Volcano National Park. Comfortable room, but fairly basic. Excellent, friendly staff and the food was excellent for dinner. Includes a free breakfast too. Had a hottub and a really nice hiking trail. Overall, great place to stay while visiting the park and would go back."
A Private Getaway in the Rainforest. One mile from Volcano National Park.
2/10 Terrible
"I felt the property was clean enough, but definitely smelled like mold and mildew. . Jim has a very strict rule book that is quite offputting when you walk in. Not because the rules are so unreasonable it’s just the stern and preaching matter of them that was a red flag. He lives on property, but it was obvious that he was always there and lurking around and pretty much knew if you flushed the toilet, or you forgot to turn off the light. It was stressful in the way of feeling like that to make sure that everything was perfect and according to the rules,I did not have a good intuitive feeling about this person, but I did the best I could and overall it was a good experience and stay in the volcano national Park. But after everything, we did to make sure everything was just as we found it. We were then told that we had stained the sheets, which we absolutely did not do any such thing and now he’s trying to charge us for themus and say that we soiled them like there were some kind of blood on them, which is impossible and one of his rules is no Thai food in bed so we had no food in bed so I have no clue what he’s talking about and sent me pictures that were so Zoomed in on to the point of blurriness with some little dot or tiny black little nothing. It’s just ridiculous. It’s not about the sheets. It’s about the fact that the place felt uncomfortable because of how rigid he is and how much he obviously does not have a good energy and a bit creepy. So we would not recommend it."
"We adored the little rainbow falls rainforest cabin. We have been travelling for about two weeks and it was time for a short retreat before continuing our adventure in the Hawaiian islands. Luckily for us, the volcano erupted, and we got to sit on the front porch listening to the rumble in the distance after having seen the start of the eruption that morning at the rim restaurant before they evacuated everyone."
"Rooms were clean and comfortable. Kitchen area could have been cleaner especially the dirty refrigerator. Excellent location to National park. Few restaurants in the area but very good food. For the price, I would visit again. "
"We had a very pleasant stay and would choose this accommodation again. It’s not high end but felt clean, welcoming and fit our needs perfectly as a home base as we waited for the volcano. It was very close to the volcano park and conveniently near to local restaurants etc. We felt like we had our own space and felt like the shared bathrooms were not a problem at all. "
